I am amazed this thread is still going. I remember the person who started it over 7 years ago. She was a NYC Investment Banker who left her job to have surgery. While recuperating, she participated in CC . She went back to her roots in Californiato be an adjunct in a Californiaa school. I miss her quite frankly.
I sort of wish we could start a new thread. 568 pages and 7 years is a lot to comb through. @MotherOfDragons …you must have very long legs, especially from the knee to ankle, which is typical of models. I’m 5’7", but have a longer torso. I know that some boots are higher than others, maybe you should look again.
I love wearing mine with patterned leggings and a tunic dress. About 4 inches of the legging shows. I would never wear that look to work, either…only weekends.
Chuckling at the over the knee boots. My 36 year old niece gave me a bag of shoes/boots to put up for her on eBay(I offered since my H has a selling account). She has no business wearing high heels- she has had leg and knee problems for years - but apparently her former H liked them and liked to pay for them so she had many which she is now under doctors orders NOT to wear. Anyway, six pairs of shoes/boots - including one “over the knee” black suede Ivanka Trump boot- not one of them with heels under 3.5 inches! I can’t even imagine! Good to know the boots at least are still in style - hopefully we’ll get them sold for her!
@abasket, so glad it was your niece’s EX and not current H who liked to endanger her health with dangerous footwear!
Bumping up this thread for those who were thinking about updating and/or paring down their wardrobes as part of their NY resolutions:

That white dress is really pretty
Yes it is! Now, imagine that it was just a bit too big, half a size or so. It probably will not look so perfectly pretty.
Also, wearing the perfect undergarment that is the correct length is also key–too long or too short would make it look “off.”
I am not at all a compulsive shopper, but yesterday at Lord and Taylor’s a very nice sale lady allowed me to choose any Donald J Pliner shoes at 70% off before they officially went on sale. This is one of my fave brands, so I went crazy and bought 6 pairs. There is no way I am keeping all of them, so now I have 3 months to decide which ones should go back. I must keep the blue d Orsay pumps because they were chosen to match my cocktail dress, but everything else is open to discussion. Thoughts?
Btw, this is the first time in my entire life when I bought sassy rhinestone loafers, and I never even expected to like anything like that. However, they looked amazing when I tried them on, and I got tons of compliments from many customers, plus they are super-comfortable. So, I ended up buying not just one, but two pairs in black and purple! I clearly need some help ![]()

I love the the black snake embossed boots! Jealous!
@Calimom3 My understanding is that all of these shoes will officially be 70% off in the next few days (some of them already are, and if you apply code “WINTER” they take another 20% off the sale price online - wow!). So maybe you can order the boots while they have them, and do the price match when they go on sale
I agree that the black snake embossed boots are cute. I don’t like the beige boots at all. I’m having trouble imagining what the loafers actually look like. I can imagine wearing them. I hate the first pair of blue shoes, but only because they make my feet hurt just looking at them. Me and pointy toes. Just no.
@mathmom “I’m having trouble imagining what the loafers actually look like.”
This is a much better picture. And they look even cuter in real life (I cannot believe I am saying this)
I love them all! I think the beige boots are very in and will be a good transition shoe to spring and then into fall. I LOVE the loafers and I agree, probably not something you think you’ll like but they can really make an outfit!
I really want one of those videos where the models prance around and you see them sparkle, but that is a better picture.
I have a 60th birthday beach bash party in Hollywood Fl on the 27th-29th and just got the details this morning. Friday night is a White Party, outside on condo’s lanai. It’s right on the ocean and might be chilly, so just wearing white jeans, and long sleeved white tee w/pretty gray & white sweater around my shoulders.
Saturday night dinner is at a restaurant. I decided I needed something new so went shopping today. Got a new white long sleeved Velvet tee and then this dress for Saturday night.

I have shoes which will go but they had these on sale for $189 and they looked cute with it.

They aren’t as black looking as in the picture much more topaz-y.
Love the dress!
I do too! How about a pair of strappy heels or sandals? More beachy than the pumps.
Thx. It’s very cute on, too.
I have a few pair in my closet that will work and they’re not for the party at the beach, but for Saturday dinner at a restaurant. I’ll probably bring all possible pairs and decide on the day. It’s a 3 part vacation (Naples for 3 days, then weekend party (were staying at the hotel adjacent to her condo) and then 3 days after in SoBe (also right on the beach) so I need to bring a lot of stuff anyway, so what’s a few more pairs of shoes.
I just hope the great weather they’ve been having continues…
I love the dress @emilybee. But I love dresses with exposed zippers. I have a couple. Can you find a link for the long-sleeved velvet white T?
