Dressing Young (Part 1)

@teriwtt, https://velvet-tees.com/women/velvet-tees-and-tops/tees/zipporah-scoop-neck-tee-7b9290.html

Thanks!

Mycupoftea- what great buys. I like the beige boots.
Emily bee- add me to the list of those who love the dress. I wish I had an occasion to wear it. I love the look of dresses but I seldom wear them. I also love simple white cotton t shirts.

I like the black embossed and the beige…agree it is a great transition boot for spring and fall. The sparkly flat is pretty.

I love the white dress, but not with black pumps. I would not do any color closed-toe pumps with that dress. Strappy sandals, or an open toe pump perhaps. Beige, nude, even a multi color…but not black. The models sandals aren’t noticeable…the dress stands out. It looks like you prefer a lower heel, so this is something to consider.

The dress isn’t white - it’s heather. The pumps arent black - they’re topaz gray.

No, I don’t prefer low heels, I wear all sizes - even stilettos.

I had several pairs of shoes like the ones in the picture, in several colors. But, that style now (to me) is dated looking. I don’t wear any of them anymore, so they were all donated when I cleaned out closet last summer.

I tried the shoe on with the dress (my boutique carries shoes) and they looked adorable with it. So, too each her own.

I think @emilybee dress is a perfect example of Dressing Young. I love that it can be dressed up or down depending on shoes and accessories. I would not wear it with a shoe like Conmama linked. That shoe would be perfect for a more classic dressy dress. It would make a great MOB shoe. I like the shoe the model is wearing with the dress. My first inclination would not be a pump but Emilybee tried a pump on with the dress and felt it went together. Sometimes online photos don’t look like the real life version.

Oh, when you said “Velvet tee,” I thought you meant a t-shirt made out of velvet material. But it’s a regular (very nicely made) cotton t-shirt made by the brand Velvet, right?

Yes. That’s why I capitalized Velvet.

It’s one of my go to brands for tees - along with Vince, Splendid, and Michael Stars.

But there is one brand that are super, super cheap ($6) that are sold at a store near my mom’s in Florida. I have a bunch of short sleeved ones and long sleeve in both V neck and scoop neck. I wear them under sweaters, around the house, working in the garden, to yoga and even with my tennis skirt or leggings I wear in winter when playing. I’ve got light gray, dark gray and in white. They never stretch out either - which I found a lot of cheap tees do.

I try to buy the good tees on sale because a lot are over $100.

I love your dress, @emilybee!

Thx, BB.

I have a bar mitzvah in May in Austin. I think I’ll wear it either to temple or the party (which I heard is going to be casual and for all I know party might be immediately after the service) even though some of the same people will be st both affairs.

@emilybee …you are right, the dress is grey. I thought it was ivory white. Sorry about that. For some reason I thought you were asking for opinions, read it too fast too early in the morning. My apologies for giving you an unsolicited opinion.

@conmama, no need to apologize! And give my opinion all the time.

Has anyone shopped COS yet? I discovered their line while shopping in Lisbon several years ago. I love one of the dresses so much that it’s completely worn out now. So, I googled and realized that COS has recently opened stores in the US. I shopped their 50% sale online, and loving it even more now. Clean, modern, fashion-forward, and totally my style. But the sizing and the cut are tricky, and I need to try many pieces to select a few, and return the rest. Wonder what was your experience?

Wow, never heard of them. The dresses look comfy and stylish. Maybe I will take a (small scale) plunge and get some - just to be a guinea pig of shopping their site.

@BB, They are part of H&M group, so basically high-end H&M line, but with much nicer styles and textiles - soft wool, cashmere, silk, cotton… Hope you like them - I would love to learn about your experience. A warning - dresses and tops generally run large, so you wouldprobably need smaller sizes (S = US size 6-8). Trousers and skirts seem to match the US sizes.

Love love the dress! Probably darn comfy in that material too.

I have a shoe itch! Thinking about summer… these are hanging in my shopping basket.

Speaking of shoes, these are kind of becoming a thing here:

The brand is called Hot Chocolate, and the shoe designs are really outrageous and interesting. My BIL’s girlfriend was wearing a pair yesterday and said they are super comfortable. I am particularly loving this pair:

They are so fun!

@BunsenBurner…those sandals are cute. Go for it!

MOfD - those colorful Mary Janes look fun! And it looks like there is a decent arch support in ones you like the most.
