Dressing Young (Part 1)

I really like my Allbirds slip ons, but I think anything you can wear that’s wool is great. Good luck with the jeans. I have a couple of pairs (moderate price, not AG) that started with very light distressing, and the holes are approaching the “too much” point. Lots of new jeans with patching so it might look good.

@houndmom I don’t pay full price for my AG jeans. I have an outlet about 45 minutes from me that I go to at least once a year. I’ve tried other brands but AG fits my body type best.
Ordered my Rothy flat. Went with the mink color but it was a hard decision.

I’n not as trim as I used to be, but I still like to wear jeans with a casual top. Does anyone have a go-to top that disguises your muffin top?

I like the White House Black Market tops that are lined, but they don’t always carry the same styles and their colors are limited.

I just ordered this thinking the pleats along the side would be flattering:

I recently purchased this top and it is very forgiving around the middle and is super soft and flattering.

Cute! Thanks.

My Allbirds Tree Runner arrived this afternoon. The Zin color is gorgeous. I tried them on and my heel slips. I’m going to try them on again in the morning but I think they will have to go back. I might try exchanging for one size down or trying the wool and seeing if the wool holds my heel down. I’m really disappointed.
Rothys are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Hope I have better luck.
I still need to get out to the Hoka store to try on their wool shoe.

@abasket @MomofWildChild @surfcity my Rothys came today. I ordered the mink and it is a nice taupe color. They are lightweight and very comfortable and my heel stays put. I decided to return them and get 1/2 size up. I felt I wanted just a bit more room in the toe. I ordered the flat and I think the style will be fine for Ca weather even in the winter. I don’t know if they are the best if you live in a cold climate.
I’m sad the Allbirds didn’t work. Still contemplating trying a size down or maybe the wool. Maybe the wool will slide less in the heel.
Edit- discovered a new concept. Happy Return bars- I can return my Rothys to a local stationery shop near my office avoiding dealing with the post office. Had never heard of this before.

I’ve never heard of that, either! Sounds great. Glad you like them except for needing a little more room. I am missing wearing mine while I’m in this boot on my left foot.

Thanks for reporting back @mom60 . D2 who is 21 came home this week and announced that she wants Allbirds- has never even heard me talking about them! Little stinker will probably somehow get them before me!

Oh no not the dreaded boot. @MomofWildChild

2 weeks into it. Stress reaction on top of foot. Not a huge deal. I get to wear a Hoka to work on the other foot!

Rothys gets another point in my book. They have already shipped my exchange before I even put the first pair in the mail.

Satellite Sisters has a Rothy’s offer on their webpage - they are a podcast sponsor. It’s for free shipping and free returns I believe.

I think Rothy’s has free shipping anyway. I’ve never paid shipping. Yeah- their customer service is excellent. Shipping is very fast, too. I’m out of town at a conference, but my new Rothy’s arrived today (I missed them).

How is their sizing? Size 40 IT here. I forgot when I bought US-sized street shoes. Lol so don’t know mine, probably 9?

I just bought a pair of Rothys this week; I thought the sizing ran true to size.

My Rothy exchange came today. I am happy I went with the 7 1/2. I like a little wiggle room in the toe box. The majority of my shoes are a 7 but glancing in my closet I have several shoes in 7 1/2 and the shoes I ended up wearing recently to a wedding are an 8. I also like the sneaker slipon look but they are pretty expensive. I went with a safe neutral color but I love some of the bright colors.
Regarding the free shipping comment by @abasket - free shipping on orders over $30. I doubt they sell anything for under $30 so basically free shipping.
Still need to send my Allbirds back. It was cute my designer S came over and he loved the packaging of the Allbirds. The box has a lot of details that I didn’t notice till he pointed them out. @abasket if you or your D order make sure to look at the box. The cardboard that they put inside the shoe to hold the shape is also very clever.
Both brands came with minimal packaging. The shipping box was the actual shoe box.

I went to DSW yesterday only because I had two great coupons to use and was ready to pull my hair out at all the darn shoe packaging in the boxes!

So true! Searching for the shoes inside their box is like an archeological expedition with some of these brands!!!

OKay - boots. Are tall boots still versatile, still being worn? I feel like I see booties and ankle boots everywhere but in the colder weather I do like a tall boot. I have brown Frye riding boots (Melissa) that I love, very comfortable and made extremely well.

I saw these Born boots on sale and they get great reviews. I have an older, well-made pair of black tall boots but they are a bit dressier and I think these would go well with jeans tucked in. Would they also work with a skirt or dress?
