Have we discussed crop pants? FMO? (for models only).
I have a pair, wear them sometimes, and I still don’t look at cute as Laura Petrie!

I just started wearing my pants above my ankles, but only when I’m wearing booties. I couldn’t wear them with flats, my legs would look shorter than they normally do.
I’m just starting to come around to the cropped casual jumpsuits, because again, they make my legs look shorter, but if they are cut longer and flowy, I like it. I think they look darling on shorter waist gals.
Are crop and capri pants considered one and the same?
I am on the taller side with long legs. Not a fan of capri pants. They don’t hit me at the ankle but somewhere above and thus look silly.
No, capris are mid-calf or slightly shorter.
Cropped pants are longer than mid-calf, a few inches above the ankle bone.
Pepamack on IG linked to a clothes web site called Witchery, and I was drawn in by the basic looks.
In reality, none of those clothes are going to look like that on me! Pepamack has a model’s body & proportions, and of course the web site uses models. Lots of cropped pants that look so cute (on them!!!).
I don’t wear a lot of pants but if I do (or jeans) they are basically ALL crop pants. No capri, crop only.
Why not crop??
(now if we are talking elastic waist wide legged grandma pants that are cropped and you’re wearing them with grandma shoes…that may be a problem!)
I’m petite and the only cropped pants I like are the ones that are cut narrow and must fit close to my leg at the hem. Those wide crops do nothing for me, actually make me look shorter and wider. I really don’t even like that look on taller women but maybe I’ve just never gotten used to it.

^ love this look. I…don’t think those cropped pants would look nearly as cute on me!
But, worth checking out Old Navy and seeing if I can duplicate the look for 1/4 of the price.
^^Those look like a basic pant to me. Sort of a chinos version. What do you doubt would not look ok on you? Would you wear these pants if they were a couple inches longer - so, not cropped?
If you wear cropped DO NOT wear socks that can be seen in any way!
Right, I think a not-cropped version would look better on me.
For example, I have Old Navy Pixie pants in regular length and ankle (cropped) length, and as much as I want to rock those cropped pants with my AllBird loafers when it warms up, I end up tossing them back in the closet and grabbing the regular length instead.
To my eye, the longer length is more flattering. Legs look longer and less thick & stumpy. I guess I was just wondering if anyone wants to sit on this bench with me.
I am a notch below average height, and most ankle pants look full length on me because clothes makers target a 5’ 9" or so woman. Sigh. I like the look and have a few pairs that I was able to get hemmed. Ankle pants look good if you have slender ankles. If your legs and feet tend to swell, ankle pants draw attention to that and are indeed unflattering.
I have long legs and a short torso paired with unusually skinny ankles. I find that cropped pants look very silly on me and I don’t wear anything cropped. I do think cropped pants with stylish sneakers look cute on correctly proportioned woman (like the picture linked in # 9187)…that just doesn’t happen to be me.
And I had a pair of the full length pixie pants from ON but found they didn’t lay flat; the outside seams wrinkled out and also were baggy behind my thighs so they went out. But, in theory, those pixie long length pants are very cute and are a great buy. Perhaps I just got a poorly made pair.
Yes, unfortunately, or not, we get what we pay for with Old Navy. I’ve had pants in the same size and same style and same color fit differently.
A lot of young guys today are wearing pants that back in my day were called floods or high waters. I work with someone who is a couple years older than me who was wearing pants like that. His daughters told them that was the style. But to me he just looked silly. He stopped doing that because eventually he agreed.
I think it takes a while for tends to start looking “right” to your eye.
Yesterday I wore a pair of high waisted jeans from madewell that are ankle cropped with my allbird lace up sneakers. I thought it looked good. But it took a lot of try ons to get the waist and crop right. And the correct shoes with that particular cut.
I’m short, 5’1”. So I found that a petite cut was what I needed.
I’m not tall (5’6") but I love cropped pants. I like the air on my ankles the same way I like 3/4 lengths sleeves on my shirts.
I’m 5’5 1/2” and I love ankle and cropped pants. I think they look best on me. I wear them with my lace up Allbirds often and also with my Rothy flats. My go to outfit is a pair of AG skinny ankle jeans with a pair of Toms. I vary the top depending on the weather. I have a few pairs of full length jeans and I don’t think I look as good in them.
@deb922 I haven’t tried the high waisted jeans on. My eye hasn’t embraced the look yet. My hips aren’t level and I fear that high waisted will become the norm and I won’t be able to find any jeans that are comfortable across my hips.
I think it’s really tricky to get the sizing right on jeans. Part of me has a big love/hate relationship with online shopping. I ordered 5 pairs of jeans from madewell and sent 4 back. Do I buy the size I can barely squeeze into and hope that they stretch enough that the waistband won’t dig in? Or do I buy the next size that fit great and I can breath in? But will stretch but how much?
I ended up keeping the bigger size because idk breathing is nice. And I’m not my kid who wears her jeans painted on. But they did stretch
The high waist was kinda fun, but it was tricky. But I think now that all waist bands and all cuts are not going to go out of style because I think that American women love their jeans and come in all shapes and sizes. I like a little higher waist because it hides all that squishy stomach
^^I’m the opposite - can’t stand to have the waistline at the squishy stomach!!!
I like the higher waist, as long as the jeans are stretchy. I recently bought a pair of NYDJ cropped jeans that are higher waisted and just love them.
