Dressing Young (Part 1)

Those are very cute pants! I agree they are just not used to you wearing skinny pants.

Those pants are great @maya54! What color did you get?

I’ve been looking for an olive pair but can’t seem to find ones I’m in love with. I need a petite and want to pay less than those Joie. But I would wear the ones you posted absolutely.

Those pants are exactly what this post is about, dressing young. I’m sure you are rocking them!

@deb922 I got both the olive and the black. They are indeed pricy even at the sale price I got. My reward to myself for the weight losss (hitting 64 pounds gone as of today) is buying all new clothes. And my youngest is graduating from college in less than two weeks and has a job so a big expense is gone. Lol!

@maya54

Good for you!!! :slight_smile:

@maya54, well done you!

The pants are adorable.

Reporting on my new Paul Green shoes. As usual, the brand did not disappoint! The leather is stretchy and buttery soft, and the footbed is very cushioned. The block heel is just the perfect height for traversing our hilly city streets. I am seriously considering getting another pair - in black. I got the Biscuit color, and they almost match my pale skin. :slight_smile:

My avatar in Pokémon Go is wearing a cute pair of capri pants with sneakers, and I thought of this thread, lol.

I just received this https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eileen-fisher-ankle-jumpsuit-regular-petite/5222323?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=black.

I was sure I was going to hate it, that it wasn’t going to fit, that I wouldn’t like a jumpsuit! Ha! It fit perfectly and I love it! I was even able to zip it up and down, lol! It’s a little more than I would usually spend on such a trendy item but I think I’ll be able to wear it a couple of different ways to get more use out of.

I’m trying to figure out what shoes to wear, nude or black? I have a pair of black slides that I think would work and also have a couple pairs of nude wedges I’ve ordered to wear with a couple of dresses I have, one of which I’ll keep.

I think I’ll wear it with a chunky necklace and a jacket of some sort.

That’s very cute, @deb922 . Where does it hit you? Like the model or lower? I think both colors of shoes would look great, depending on the “look” you are after, and accessories you wear. If you want to add a little pop sometime, wear red shoes and red accessories.

I’m not sure what thread to post this in but I figured I might get some good advice from the Dressing young crowd.
I have Irish freckled skin that has gotten very thin on my hands and arms. I tend to bleed and bruise easily. I’ve been known to bleed from just touching my hand on the side or top of a box at Costco. Or even when I carry a grocery bag on my wrist. I’ve tried eliminating all the additional factors such as I avoid taking any Advil, stopped using Flonase as those two things seemed to make it worse. I also have stopped taking progesterone and estrogen in the hope that that helps.
My D is getting married in 4 weeks and my dress is sleeveless. I’m really happy with the muscle component of my arms but the skin is not in great shape.
Where I would love some suggestions is I think I need to try to wear long sleeve shirts for the next several weeks to hopefully lessen the random bruises from when I bump my arm on something. I go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week. I run hot and like to work out in sleeveless tops. I would love any suggestions for shirts to work out in that will keep me cool and protect my arms.
Thank you

@mom60 I’ve found lightweight wool comfortable when even a light cotton t-shirt feels too oppressive on hot humid days. https://www.icebreaker.com/en/womens-baselayers/175-everyday-long-sleeve-crewe/104471.html?dwvar_104471_color=001 maybe?

@HouseChatte does the wool get itchy when you sweat?

@mom60 I like bamboo shirts when I am trying to protect my skin from the sun. Don’t know if that would help protect you from bruising. Freefly Apparel is one brand I like online.

For running I’ve started to like breathable fabrics like Nike Dri FIt, Artic Cool etc. Mostly I use short sleeved or sleeveless, but for borderline cool days I have a long sleeved one that is surprisingly comfortable as temps increase (but I still do pull up the sleeved).

Just in case bruises (or cccccold AC), could you find a nice blingy short sweater or sheer blouse that complements your dress?

@orangepurple I’m going to give that brand a try. I know I can’t prevent all the bruising and bleeding but I’m hoping to reduce the number of random ones I get when I just brush against something. Hoping the long sleeves provides some protection.
@colorado_mom I realize my post is confusing. I’m looking for long sleeve shirts I can exercise in prior to the wedding. Haven’t even begun to think about what I’ll wear with my dress for the wedding. I know it will get chilly.

I really like long sleeved Lulu shirts that don’t get stinky.

@BunsenBurner I’m going to possibly be near a Lulu shop this week and I’m planning on popping in and looking around. That long sleeve looks so constricting to me. This is what I usually like to wear. I have this in an older version, https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-tanks/Breeze-By-Muscle-Tank/_/prod8873340?color=4780 like I mentioned I run hot and I hate anything tight on my upper body. It’s going to take some adjusting.

Have you thought about using arm warmers with a tank top?

Swiftly breeze shirts are light and loose. Not tight like the regular cut swiftly’s. https://shop.lululemon.com/p/tops-long-sleeve/Swiftly-Tech-LS-Breeze/_/prod8510157?color=0572 I guess it’s called the relaxed fit now

The breeze by long sleeve has little holes in them for ventilation https://shop.lululemon.com/p/tops-long-sleeve/Breeze-By-Long-Sleeve-Lululemon/_/prod9330197?color=29087

This shows you a little better what the breeze by looks like https://shop.lululemon.com/p/tops-long-sleeve/Breeze-By-Long-Sleeve-Squad/_/prod8900601?color=36667

@mom60

Curious what your doctor has to say about the fragile skin & bruising.

Outdoor Research? makes cooling sleeves that you could wear over your arms with a tank top. I have the OR neck gaiter.
