Dressing Young (Part 1)

I have wide feet (C width) and love Rothy’s. In my experience, “The Flat” sized up a half size works best, and I own several pair. I had to go up a full size for “The Point,” which was okay, but not ideal. I also love the loafers (also a half size bigger than my usual size), but they’re a bit more snug than my flats. Haven’t tried the sneakers. In terms of value, several of my flats are over two years old and, despite heavy use, show no signs of wear.

@Barbalot

My D loves her pair, but says she took her time deciding on the right size. She said the returns/exchanges were painless.

I have wide feet with very little arch. I bought a rounded toe Rothy in my regular shoe size and they are quite comfortable. I just washed them today and they came out great. Would like to buy the pointe but cringe at the price tag. If I do get the pointe, I will try 1/2 size up.

I have an orthotic that I often use in closed shoes. Does anybody have thoughts/experience on whether the Rothy Point will accommodate an orthotic insert? Suppose I’d need to order up a half size.

They are pretty narrow and lower profile shoes. I would not expect an orthotic would work well.

@MomofWildChild, are they more narrow and lower that Tieks? I use my orthotic with my Tieks and assumed the Rothy Point would be similar.

@rutgersmamma maybe reach out to them and ask. I had to exchange my pair several times to get the right size and I found them very helpful. I ended up having to go a full size up even in the round toe. I like a wide toe box and that was partly why I went up a full size. I love the look of my Rothy round toe but I don’t find I can walk all day in them like @MomofWildChild does. I find that my toes begin to cramp by the end of the day if I’ve done a lot of pavement walking. I have the same issue with my Toms. I think it’s my aging feet as I used to walk miles in my Toms with no issue.
I’m glad Teva is now considered fashionable. I have quite a number of pairs and I’m thinking I want to add a few more this summer. I find I prefer the footbed of the hurricane style. My DIL wears all sorts of Teva sandals in wild colors, fabrics and heights. She even had a pair of custom wedding shoes that she changed into for dancing.

I would call them and ask. I think they are higher and more substantial than Tieks- and in my view more comfortable and certainly more cushioned. The insole is fully removable, so maybe the orthotic would fit just fine. I’m just used to seeing huge athletic orthotics which take up too much room even in a running shoe.

Well, I think Teva’s can be fashionable - but it also depends what you are wearing them with! The hurricane style is more bulky isn’t it? More so than the universal for instance?

I’ll admit that I’d love a pair of these new Tevas this year! https://www.teva.com/teva-x-outdoor-voices/hurricane-xlt2—outdoor-voices/1108689.html

Those are so cute!

Yeah, I’d get the spruce color! Look like summer to me!

I just realized that the summer sales have started, and I have not bought a thing! Poking around the internet, I came across this jumpsuit. NM/BG had it deeply discounted, so I ordered it.

@BunsenBurner great looking jumpsuit.

@abasket that Teva sandal is sold out in both colors. You must have good taste. I don’t find the hurricane style to be bulky. I prefer the smoother footbed.

No wonder those sandals are sold out!

:slight_smile:

I can’t imagine summer without Teva sandals! But then again, I’m from Maine where Chapstick is lipstick!

I love these bracelets, I feel they have a nice youthful vibe to them. I’ve have one boho cuff and one wrap, I wear them together. I just ordered another boho is white and silver, they make new ones all the time, but this weekend the stock they have is 50% off.

I saw LOTS of marketing for those colorful Tevas. So apparently it worked! My 22 year old D is who alerted me to them - she loved them!

I know this is last minute, but I flew down to Florida for a family wedding and forgot to pack my dress! The wedding is in 3 hours and I am at the St. Augustine Premium outlet mall. They open in 13 minutes and I need to find a dress, wedding says cocktail attire. Is Ann Taylor a good choice for that? I’m not a shopper so don’t know what different stores carry. There is also a Black House White Market (is that what the name is) as well as a Dress Barn. Any thoughts of which I should try first? I am 60 but don’t like “old lady” clothes and am a size 14. I did remember to pack my nude pumps so shoes aren’t an issue. Thanks if anybody reads this soon!

You might find a deal at Dress Barn…I think they are closing!

Ann Taylor and Wh/BM are both fine if you find the right dress…but both will be pricier than Dress Barn. I’d start at Dress Barn, and then go to the others if you don’t find anything.
