Shop away @conmama ! I would wear the cropped jeans (wide leg or skinny) with the snakeskin booties. Or a midi skirt.
@psychmomma , how tall are the booties? Can you link them?
They are very low, almost shoes- similar to these.
Very cute! Skinny blue jeans. I think they would cute with the ragged edging on them too. Suede faux moto jacket. They have several at Nordstrom.
I went to the mall this afternoon because I needed to pick up a couple of free little give-aways for my birthday and it had to happen before September ends (Sephora etc). I used to love going to the mall- it was relaxing and somewhat therapeutic. I don’t know if I’ve changed or the malls have changed, but I rarely enjoy it anymore. It just seems overwhelming. The Apple store was slammed! I did pick up a couple of t-shirt type tops at Pink/VS and a nice pair of work trousers (the trendy paper bag styling) for work this winter- if winter ever comes! I got those at Dillard’s, where the dressing rooms seemed a little dirty. Nothing went particularly wrong during my outing- it just wasn’t fun like it used to be.
That mall is probably LUCKY to have the Apple store to get some customers in the mall!
Unkept dressing rooms are a real turn off. I mean, doesn’t have to be fancy but CLEAN would be nice!
Going to have to look up paper bag style - is that the wider pant leg all the way up and the higher waist tie?
I had to look up the paper bag style.
My DDs like to shop with me and while they try on clothes, I clean out dressing rooms. I cannot believe that people try things on, don’t hang them up, or toss them on the floor, and refuse to return them to racks. Pet peeve of mine…
Yes- here’s an example. Mine are plaid and a fake lightweight wool-looking fabric. https://www.jcrew.com/us/p/womens_category/pants/wideleg/paperbag-pant-in-tencel-lyocell/AB672?color_name=melted-caramel&noPopUp=true&srccode=Paid_Search|Shopping|Google|PB_WPROD_BOTTOMSx_ACQ_XXX_EVG_COUSA_EN_EN_P_CREW_AW_CPC_PLA,Womens_Pants_x_XXX,PRODUCT_GROUP,71700000054219439,58700005155118379,p45362301243&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Paid_Search&utm_campaign=PB_WPROD_BOTTOMSx_ACQ_XXX_EVG_COUSA_EN_EN_P_CREW_AW_CPC_PLA,Womens_Pants_x_XXX&utm_content=Shopping&NoPopUp=True&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrMHsBRCIARIsAFgSeI3i3HVhwFuuTefxlZ9Zhtp0FWvTOsYYSWMvQMaO1nRHtRAR-0xaVhsaAibVEALw_wcB
One of our employees has been wearing paperbag-style pants paired with a black tee and keds for a while now. The look works great for her! I bet it will look awesome on you, @MomofWildChild !
@dentmom4 - yes, that is my pet peeeve, too. Macy’s dressing rooms are notoriously messy. Nordstroms around here keep their dressing rooms spotless. I like to poke around our flagship Nordstrom. I used to love the former Bon/Macy’s, but then it went to the dogs and will now be closing for good. Sad times. Hope the Belsquare one is still going to be around because I love to shop there for home goods!
It seems like when I go into brick and mortar stores anymore, it’s to return stuff bought online that doesn’t work.
The problem is that there is so much more inventory online and since most stores stopped selling any petite sizes (looking at you Macy’s) I am forced to buy online and return to the store.
My kid does the same.
wow, that’s awful! How can they?
I recently noticed that my Macy’s doesn’t have any petite sizes either. I guess I’ll be shopping there even less than I do already.
I believe our Macy’s still has a large women’s petite dept because our island has so many petite women.
A few years ago Macy’s got rid of their petite department, but petite sizes (if available) are mixed in with regular sizes. I stopped shopping there when they did that - too hard to find clothes in my size!
I got a little confused by “large women’s petite department”.
I believe petite refers to the height of the person wearing the clothing. If you’re under 5’4” you are petite. If you’re 5’5” or 5’6” you may or may not be, depending on your proportions and the outfit.
My D at 5’2” is definitely petite. I am on the border at 5’5” to 5’6”—means I generally need to try things in both sizes—reg & petite.
So, I am 5’4 1/2” tall, but I am absolutely not petite because I am so long-waisted and have short, squatty legs. So, height alone is not determinative of petiteness. How your torso is proportioned compared to your leg length is important to know as well.
Ha, @hoggirl - you probably could wear petite pants. I’m 5’2" and like petite tops, but often I buy regular sized pants.
I like buying “short” jeans so I don’t have to hem them. The “short” ones are generally the perfect length as I don’t wear heels.
