@colorado_mom - I cannot wear petite pants at all. They are far too short in the stride. I tend to do as @HImom suggests and buy “short” jeans. Only, the length is short.
I had a friend in college who was almost three inches shorter than I, but our leg length was the same. I should truly be 5’7” tall!!
My legs are long for my height, so I can usually get away with wearing “short” jeans, but if I don’t get some tops in petite they’re way too long in the torso and arms.
I’m pretty sure the Macy’s in my DC suburb still has a petite’s department, or at least it did a couple months ago. I will be sad if that has gone by the wayside. I’m someone who would rather shop for clothes (if not other things) in a store to see the colors and feel the fabric in person. If there’s something I like that I can’t find in my size I’ll go online to order it.
Anyone remember Petite Sophisticates, the mall chain store from the '80s?
Our downtown Macy’s shrunk to just 1/4 of its space and will soon be closing for good . I used to love that place. Shopped there often despite having to lug stuff back home on the bus. Sigh.
I actually worked at Petite Sophisticates when I was trying to save money to buy a house. I worked at places called Thimbles, August Max (when it was a high end store) Karen Charles, and PS. I never did save much for the house, but I dressed really nicely.
Yes, I like being able to wear slacks and jeans without having to hem while the rest of the sizing fits appropriately. I find slacks, shorts and jeans tough to purchase without trying on, sitting, standing and walking in. It’s just too tough to know whether it fits just right and if not, I don’t need it! I’m happy buying, trying and returning as needed but if I can try it on where I shop and decide whether or not to buy in the first place, it’s fewer steps!
I have a torso of someone over 5’6” and the leg length of someone 5’. (Plus more than a bit chunky ATM.) Definitely not a pure petite. It’s not just getting reg size pants/skirts/dresses shortened - they have to be restyled unless they are straight up and down with nothing fancy at the hem.
I wish I were a size 8, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon.
I’m the opposite…I have long legs for my height, a very high waist and a short torso. I often have to have tops and dresses taken up at the top. At just over 5’2", I can wear petite tops but pants are too short.
I sort of hated every time my girls (for a short time) wanted to go into Forever 21 - WAY too much overload of stuff! Where are the teens wanting to shop these days??
I dug out one of my wool sweaters today. It’s a Neve hoodie with a fun swirly design in black & grey. Wore it with distressed jeans and my grey Allbird loafers.
I’m not much of a purse person, but I could use a little crossbody something for phone + keys + $$
