It (our aging bodies) takes some getting used to, for sure.
@dietz199 mmm…I can be between sizes too and I got my Rockstar in the smaller size. They are fitted - after all they are jeggings! - but I think if I went with my 2nd size - the larger size - they wouldn’t be as slim all over.
Can you order (or try in the store) one of each size and then return the other? I will say that I did try on a pair of the black ones (didn’t buy them, I’m not really into black jeans) and they DID seem to run smaller.
I have worn rock star jeans for several years. I find they run true to size but I always have to have the waist band at the center back taken in about 1 1/2" (this is something needed on almost all jeans I buy, regardless of brand). I don’t wear the jeggings but I do wear the dark wash skinny ones. Very flattering, they hold their shape and are so incredibly inexpensive. And, as long as the waist band isn’t taken in too much, it never digs in.
Reporting in on the wool Rothy’s flats. I love them even more than the regular Rothy’s. They were immediately comfortable and look great. I got the dark grey.
I am going shoe shopping at Nordstrom’s tomorrow. In search of new (cute) tennis shoes (I am thinking of gunmetal/metallic), and short, black boots. It’s a drive for me to get there, so I hope I am successful. I may look for some sort of fun leopard shoe as well.
@MomofWildChild How did you find the sizing? Was it consistent with the original Rothy’s? I’ve been wanting to give these a try but can’t decide on a style/color!
I got my normal street shoe size which is what I get in the round tie Rothy’s. I ho up 1/2 size in the pointy ones. These are perfect.
Thanks!
I just spent some time with the General Counsel for Rothy’s. Of course, both she and I were wearing the shoes! She said the company has a terrific culture and a lot of the workmanship on each pair is hand done! She sizes up a full size in the pointy shoes and says it makes all the difference. It was a fun conversation at this legal conference!
^^^ How fun! She was probably a prime person to get the chance to talk to - such a hot item these days. Whew, that you were wearing the shoes!
I like the look of the Rothy’s but I don’t usually have much luck with flats. I might try them just because they would look cute with all these short pants I have now.
Right now, pants are the big problem for me. I can see that it looks more up-to-date and young to show a little ankle, and I am fine with that in the summer when I have sandals, but now that it’s getting a little cooler, I would love to wear socks again. I was trying to get some corduroy pants but they were all too short to wear with socks.
Are you all wearing your jeans and other pants stylishly short? Don’t you miss your cozy socks? Will I look like an old lady if I insist on pants that cover my ankles?
I like my pants short. At the ankle. I either wear sandals or in cooler weather (I’m in Ohio) not a flat but a very low heel like a loafer or I’ll wear a bootie - which allows me to have a short sock inside (not visible). I also don’t wear pants much! I prefer skirts/dresses for work, jeans with athletic shoes when not at work- or a bootie in the winter.
I love my AGL pumps, so incredibly comfortable and pair perfectly with cropped jeans/dress pants, terrific for spring/fall time when I wear them barefoot. Can’t have enough of them (I had mine in nude color) https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/agl-cap-toe-pump-women/4506197/full?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FShoes&color=tmoro%2F%20animal%20print
Today, I purchased:
in black, and
in leopard, and
in black stone metallic leather.
I also bought some Jo Malone cologne! A fun shopping day!
@makemesmart - my friend with whom I was shopping showed me that brand today! She, as I, has a rather narrow foot, and that brand apparently runs quite narrow. She has two pair of their flats. I had already done enough damage for one day, and that is a pretty high price point! I’m glad to hear another person loves them as well. Pumps are hard for me to find. I will definitely add them to my wish list.
You go @Hoggirl! Got everything on your list. I don’t like many colognes, but there is a Joe Malone one, wood sage and sea salt, that I’m seriously contemplating putting on my Christmas list. Which did you get?
@1214mom - That one was under consideration. I purchased myrrh and tonka. I also like amber and lavender.
They have their holiday gift boxes out. I didn’t price them, but they contain small bottles of several fragrances. All their packaging is just lovely.
Ohhh @Hoggirl how will you wear the boots??
I have the same dilemma as @orangepurple in that once it gets to a certain temp (almost there!) I can’t stand to wear a shoe with exposed ankle or even just the top of my foot.
On casual days I like tall boots with skinny jeans but on days I need to be more professional I am going with a straight dress pant with short booties so I can wear socks. I hope that’s not too dated a look.
I am glad that I work in the office where my boss (a dude, obviously) can show in wearing a Hawaiian shirt, old jeans, all completed with a pair of Tevas, wool socks optional. So when I wear tall boots with skinny pants/sweater, I still look dressed up.
@Hoggirl , good job! Love them all. Shoe shopping is so much fun.
@surfcity - Oh, the black ones with skinny jeans and my leopard jeans. I also have a pair of light gray snake jeans that I bought at WHBM a couple of months ago. I imagine I will use the leopard ones when I am just too monochromatic with my black. I have some coated, black pants (with fun zippers) from WHBM as well. I also have a pair of red ankle pants that I think they will work well with.
Speaking of WHBM, I popped in there yesterday as well. They have a new collection out that has some colors labeled “mauve,” or “rose.” I had seen some cute items on-line, but it was really hard to get a sense of the actual color, especially when compared to photos I had seen on Instagram. I was hopeful, but the colors are horrible for my collection. They are all very peachy - completely washes me out. Oh, well. I can save money and hope for some richer shades for holiday time.
