@deb922 , that makes me feel better. I’m still going to see if they will adjust it.
I don’t shop at Target, but I do order online from other clothing companies, and typically, if returning something and exchanging for another size, and the original purchase was on sale, the sale price is still honored on the replacement item.
Really cute sweater dresses. I get too cold so I’m just sticking with thermals and slacks and warm things. Wish I were hardier!
Looking for suggestions for warm leggings or exercise tights. I like to wear black athletic leggings with tunics or dresses with booties. I’m going to NYC in December and I want to try a warmer pant. I presently have a couple of pairs of Zelle pants from Nordstrom. One issue I have with them is that with booties I sometimes end up with a bit of leg showing which is fine in Ca but not so good for a cold weather trip. I’m 5 ft 5 1/2 inches but I have long legs.
GypsyRunner cold gear (only online). Lightly fleece lined and really warm. They run a tiny bit small.
@mom60 I have some Zella leggings from Nordstrom and while some are crop or 7/8 length, they make some to the ankle. In fact, I’m wearing a pair right now!
Also, try Athleta. Costs a bit more than Zella.
I live in NYC and don’t wear fleece lined. I think any of the above will suffice, and then get more wear as they could be worn in CA.
Can I have some jeans advice, please? I’ve lost about 20 pounds, going for maybe 15 more, and my current jeans are getting large and feel silly. I have singlehandedly brought back the 1980s paper bag pants look. Don’t let me continue doing this!
Am 5’3", longer torso with short legs, have no rear end (extra weight goes right to my abdomen). Wear my tops untucked and on the longish side. Footwear is flats in summer, flat heeled boots or booties in the winter. I like a straight cut but also want a pair of skinny jeans in the rotation.
I love my Athleta Sculptek jeans and will probably get a skinny pair from them, but I’m looking for a similar type in a straight leg which they don’t seem to carry any more. Help?
First of all, congratulations @HouseChatte on the weight loss. That’s great!
I think buying the right jeans are right up there with bathing suits! Have to try on a lot to get one that works.
I just got a pair of the Athleta scupltek jeans and I love them. They are so comfortable and don’t stretch out. I have another pair from maybe 3 years ago and the new pair is very skinny. And higher waisted. I like them but wanted to let you know that are a bit different than older pairs.
I haven’t yet bought a pair of straight leg jeans. But I think that my flat behind looks better with the higher waist jeans. Recently I’ve been pleased with both madewell jeans and Good American. They seem to stretch but not too much and I like the pocket placement.
I used to like Kut from the Kloth jeans but I got a black pair this years that stretch out so much. It might be that they are black, idk
You might try American Eagle for jeans. Lots of stretch and some of the cuts really hold in the middle if that’s your aim. I order online as everything in the store is shredded for my daughter’s generation. Very easy to order many pairs online and then return what you don’t want to a store. My daughter and I both wear them and I’ve gotten a friend and her daughter to try them too. Different body types and they fit us all.
Tip: if returning to the store, don’t throw away the bag your order came in. The mailing label is also the receipt and will save you having to search your email for your order #.
I like buying Costco Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. They’re a very low price if generally under $20 apiece and the “short” ones are perfect length with NO hemming!
I buy several sizes online and return what I don’t want or doesn’t fit me to the store. Online tends to have wider array of sizes than instore, especially smaller sizes for your new weight and size.
Way to go, @HouseChatte! What an accomplishment! Since you are hoping to lose more weight, I imagine you might not want to spend a lot on jeans that could be transitional. I know they’ve been mentioned here before but check out Old Navy’s rockstar jeans which go on sale frequently. I know they have skinny; I’m not positive about straight leg. I have to have almost all my jeans altered at least minimally so, if you’re up for that, you could also see if they have boot leg that you alter straight. I find I look best in a rather skinny straight, if that makes sense so I’ve even had some straight leg jeans tailored a bit to get the right look/fit.
I’ve also had some success at Gap and it wouldn’t surprise me if both stores have 50% off sales after Thanksgiving. And I second buying online and returning in store.
Having said that, my favorite straight leg jeans are J Brand. Not inexpensive though (not that you mentioned price…that was just where my mind went).
Seconding the suggestion to check our Old Navy Rockstar jeans!
Am I the only one who can not tolerate the smell of Old Navy clothes?
Every time I go into the store or order clothes from there, the odor is overwhelming toxic. It sets my allergies off and my hands turn red and burn.
Same thing with JJill, even trying on the clothes causes me to break out with hives
I have not noticed any smell in Old Navy or had any reactions.
I do steer clear of overwhelming smells at stores like Bath & Body Works.
I suggest old navy too but I find the rockstar jeans are way too skinny, they feel like leggings. I prefer the Pop Icon cut which are more comfortable. They are a little straighter cut too
Does anyone wear blanket scarves? They are so cute but I think they’d be very hot inside. Unless one is standing outside in 40 degree weather, I’m not sure they are practical. Just wondered if anyone wore them indoors.
I much prefer Nordstrom tissue weight pashminas - I do use them to keep myself warm in the office! Thinking about getting a poncho!
Yes! I have one that is thick and perfect for fall or cooler summer nights.
And, I have a thin lightweight one.
Love them! Cozy!
@Midwest67 , so you just wear those heavier ones outside?
Yes, the heavier one is a Burberry knock off from eBay. Sometimes I will curl up with it on a cold winter day inside our drafty old house. Otherwise, it’s essentially outerwear.
The lighter one is Liz Claiborne and yes, I have taken it inside to brew pubs & the movie theater in all kinds of weather.
So much depends on how hot or cold you run, how many layers, etc.
I love mine!
