Dressing Young (Part 1)

@maya54 Thanks, she has nice style but I noticed she didn’t pack any leggings. I cannot travel anywhere without my lulu’s.

She packed twice as many clothes as I would have! Three pairs of sandals!!! The only fashion blog I’ve ever read semi-regularly of is AmidPrivilige. (Written by a former regular poster.)

@maya54 i also really like Jo-Lynne Shane. I really like her style. She has a Facebook group, where you can ask questions and share style finds. Jo-Lynne is also very active in her group which I think is very nice for an influencer

‘She packed twice as many clothes as I would have! Three pairs of sandals!!!”

Yeah lol she’s like me. Not a light packer. Especially when as she was doing I was going one place and staying there. Any time I’ve attempted light packing on those sorts of trips I highly regret it. I get two free checked bags when I fly ( much to DH dismay) and I often use them both!

OMG, she packed wasaay too much junk like makeup and supplements. I don’t think I own a single makeup brush or sponge other than those supplied with the makeup. For those of us who are not painting people’s faces for a living, our hands and fingers are the best “blender.” Learned that from watching makeup pros!

I am after this beauty (for our youngsters):

Yikes. Small sizes already sold out! I better hurry !

I follow:

  1. Schaefer told me to ( although lately I find her styling is a little rote), but I found some favorite jewelry companies from her blog .
  2. Style Your Senses
  3. Brighton the Day ( the costigan influencer)
  4. Living in Yellow
  5. So Heather ( love seeing how she dresses but her linked items are pricey)
  6. HotandFlashy

Almost all these women are close to 30 years younger, but I live how they style their clothing.

@conmama - search for “Amid Privilege.” Our own @Alumother’s style and life in general blog. I like her style.

I own a few makeup brushes but nothing like the blogger. I travel with a eyebrow brush and a brush for bronzer.
I agree with others that she travels with a lot of clothes. I like her pant style but like @Nhatrang I never travel without my leggings. I’m also not a fan of heels with jeans. I will look more into her blog as I’m a similar size but I have no chest.
Love the Lululemon jacket that @BunsenBurner linked. I love that look and it suits my lifestyle. I wish I had seen it last week when my D’s boyfriend had a discounted pop up at his office.
My Outdoor voices package has shipped and should arrive tomorrow. I’m excited to try a new brand.
I’ve noticed that several companies in my area give their employees discount codes for other brands. Mainly they seem to be for healthy lifestyle brands.

I’m still searching for blogs like the above but for older, heavier women.

@BunsenBurner , I will check it out for sure! Thanks. I meant the bloggers are 20 years younger. I forgot to mention Hi Sugarplum. She does a lot of outfit modeling with her mom.

I also follow this more mature woman than the others. (Over 40) I really like her.

I just picked these booties up from DSW. I had been thinking about them for a month and decided to do it. I was afraid they would be too high. They came in wide width, so I just had to give it a try. They are very comfortable, high, but not terrible and SO SO sexy on…more than in the picture. Can’t wait to wear.

I’m always carryon only and I don’t wear makeup.

I’ve recently been following /onebag on reddit - those people have me beat!!

Those of you who follow fashion influencers do you also follow them on Instagram?

I prefer the “short and sweet” - and visual - of Instagram often over a blog - no way I have time to read an entire list of blogs all time! But I like the (often) daily swipe of Instagram to keep up with influencers (for me, more home design, DIY home stuff than fashion).

I personally don’t get the appeal of one bag, especially just a carry on when you are going someplace like Disney where you aren’t moving around. At WDW resorts they even pick the luggage up for you at the airport and bring to your hotel. I like to have just the right clothes for every weather permutation, I’m likely to spill at some point and have never and will never do laundry on vacation. I know many feel differently. What I really don’t get is the people who are not bringing Enough underwear on a week long trip. I mean it takes up almost no room. Throw in a few extra pairs even if you are just doing carry on.

I am not a light packer, even though I business travel a lot. I always have to have my running stuff (indoor and outdoors) and I do wear makeup. I can sometimes get by with a carry-on, but it isn’t my preference.

Bunsen just spent more of my money. I ordered that long Lulu hoodie/jacket.

@MomofWildChild I would TOTALLY love to see you start a fashion blog! I love the way you dress - lighthearted and fun! (professional when you need to be…)

@MomofWildChild - lol ? and sorry ? ?

I also follow Living In Yellow and The Motherchic. They are good for casual and everyday. I’d love a blogger who focuses on more office wear - not suits, but pulled together pants and sweater etc.

The Well Dressed Life kinda fits this mold. I

I don’t usually read the blogs, just scan the photos on FB or IG.

@maya54, I think a lot of people do carryon because they are afraid of losing luggage. It has always been a concern of mine, although it’s never happened to me.

It was very freeing when we traveled to Italy, I had never done that before. But it was out of necessity. I do like having a variety of clothes and shoes to wear so never take one for U.S travel.

This is true. But also to save time on landing (at my home airport waiting for luggage adds a half hour, easy) , and having less to carry around. I do not really do resort travel so I am carrying my stuff from place to place myself, that’s a huge factor. And of course, checking a bag often means another fee.

I will do laundry on vacation but if available I’ll have someone else do it for me.
