Is there a “best” day to go to Nordstroms Rack? It is a 45 minute drive each direction and I hate to drive and not find anything. Do they get new merchandise on the weekends? Is Monday pretty cleared out from the weekend?

I noticed that it took me much longer than usual to put together an outfit this morning because all jeans were a notch too big! I had to ask DH to make a new hole in one of my belts to keep the jeans from falling off my butt. My spring wardrobe has become somewhat limited as well. So when I logged onto Ruelala this morning to see what was on sale, I made up my mind fairly quickly. Hopefully, the stuff I bought will fit. I consulted with DH if it was OK for me to get a certain dress, and his reply was, “As long as it is for you and not for the kids!” :)

mom60, NR is always a hit or miss deal, but I think you are right about Mondays. Our NRs are real zoos on the weekends.

Our Nordstrom Rack used to be about a 20 minute drive (one way) away. I went a couple of times, didn’t find anything and stopped going. That one closed and another one opened about 5-10 minutes from my D’s cheer gym. I take her to the gym 2-4 times a week and if I don’t have anything pressing to do, I’ll stop by NR. Many times I’ll find nothing, but other times it’s a treasure trove. I don’t think I’d drive 45 minutes to get there, but it’s great that it’s so convenient.

I found a bathing suit in the Land’s End catalogue that I like (separates, with boy shorts.) Does anyone know how the sizes run? Have their clothes gotten larger like everwhere else, so that a 4 is what an 8 used to be?

missypie, I think their swimwear bottoms run big because I will be their Size 2 according to this handy chart

[Lands’ End size chart](http://www.landsend.com/cd/popup/0,,copyName=pop_size_1001_wm_swimwear.html)

Lands End seems to run big and most of their clothes ( although swim suits should be different) seem to not be very fitted.

Last time I bought something- it was a peacoat for D, but I ended up wearing it, cause it looked sloppy on her.

The last thing I ordered from them was a barn jacket. It’s a small but it swallows me. If they sold it at Ann Taylor it would be a 12.

But it’s much better psychologically to order a 4 and need a 2 than to order a 2 and need a 4!

Re: obsession with coats, etc. I “collect” scarves and pashminas. :)

I have 2 Lands End swimsuits, both size 10. One is probably 12 years old, the other is brand new. They fit the same, so I don’t think they have changed sizes. I wear size 10 swim wear in all the brands I have tried.

For comparison: My dress size is anywhere from 6 to 10 and skirts are 4 to 8 depending on the manufacturer. I was in a bridal shop last week helping a friend look for a dress and was surprised that a couple of 10’s were too tight around my ribs. So there, I would need a 12 for some dresses.

Does pregnancy expand our ribs?

Bunsen, I looked at that chart. According to that, I would buy a size 6 swimsuit. But the 10 I have fits (not at all baggy or anything!) so I can only imagine how very tight the 6 would be!

mafool - yes pregnancy expands our ribs! Unfortunately, mine did not expand equally; fortunately, I’m the only one that can tell :)

Pregnancy absolutely expands our ribs! I remember trying to get into a dress after I’d lost every ounce of my baby weight, and I couldn’t even get near to zipping the dress across my back.

And pregnancy made my feet bigger too. One whole size. Plus wide. I guess my arches fell!

NR is TOO crazy here on the weekends…long lines snake around the store at checkout (they usually only have two cashiers!). I try to stop in during the week. It’s very close. I agree that it’s very much hit or miss. I’ve found some unbelievable bargains there…but also often walk out with nothing. And their racks are a mess!

I want my clothes to be loose! I need to work harder. Congrats to all who are having success!

Well that explains why, now that I am approximately at my pre baby weight, I need a bra with a larger band size.

I never thought that when I bought for the “largest measurement,” it would be my rib cage

During pregnacy, my feet spread, and after baby no.2, did not go back. I had to buy all new shoes, in a D width. But for zappos.com, I would be barefoot.

If you have a Sears go you can go in and try on a Lands End suit. Even if they don’t have the one that you want you can get an idea of size.
Wandered around the crappy Macy’s for a bit this afternoon. I need some tops but I can’t seem to find anything I like. In winter I get by with a tank top covered up with a cashmere sweater. It is getting warm and I don’t like any of my choices. In summer I usually wear a linen camp type of blouse. What is everyone wearing on top for casual wear with jeans?

mom60, that is my problem as well - there is nothing in the stores right now that I think can qualify as “wearable” with jeans this time of the year. A couple of weeks ago I went shopping for casual tops and all I ended up buying was one polo shirt with 3/4 sleeves. One. I like to wear shirts with 3/4 length sleeves, but I’m very picky about the fabric. It has to be no iron, non- wrinkle, looks good on me kind
In the summer, it is shirts with cap sleeves.

Mom60, I wish your Nordstrom Rack was closer…that’s the only place I’ve purchased tops in the last 6 months or so. I’ve found some very cute tops that I haven’t seen anywhere else.

Last year I found some nice knit tops at the Ann Taylor Factory Store.

BunsenBurner - I got 4 great tops at TJMaxx last week, all with 3/4 length sleeves. I don’t remember the brand names offhand, but they were all very cute, very inexpensive, and just trendy enough for a 50+ yr old mom ;). They will get me through the next several weeks until it really gets warm.
