And I just checked out Tano, new to me. I really like that Tribal Messenger Bag. Great style/design/materials for the price. And, excuse me, orange!

This thread is a lot more fun than the diet-exercise thread.

^^^ yes bookiemom it is…and alumother and there are those that would call me a high priestess of WASP and I am excited about my new Tano!! I think it was MOWC who inspired me to go forth and purchase with her link to one she was “all about” and I agree they are quite reasonable. If it survives summer and the sand, the water, being stuffed underneath bushes and sitting in wet grass and shoved into my bike basket it gets credit for “value” also.

I really love that shirt, Alumother. I may call and order it for myself - we’ll never run into one another wearing it, right? Do you mind? How was the sizing?

Okay, Alumother, give me the code words again to find your blog. I was there before but in my delirium, I lost the site!
I will bookmark in the future.

Ha ha ha…tribal messenger Tano in orange is what I got. Many, many posts ago I mentioned that I absolutely have to have a shoulder strap AND a grab and go strap and the crazy purple inside just called out to me… all that and the color orange just did it for me. I can stuff just all kinds of great summer stuff into that bag, too, along with my H’s wallet, sunglasses, reading glasses, keys, camera, suntan lotion and probably a book and dog leash and maybe a beach blanket if necessary. The leather even has some sort of finish on it that feels like it would repel water to some extent…I swooned.

Gourmetmom, do I mind? Do I mind? Not even. I would be deeply honored. Seriously. I bought a size IV. Yeah, that’s what it says. IV. I am 5’5 1/2" and weigh 125. I am usually a size 4 in Banana Republic/LLBean pants, and a size 8 in tops, because I am very broad shouldered. If you are more regular shouldered at my height and weight you would certainly take a size down.

momofthreeboys…great minds, and all that.

And the code words would be Privilege, LPC, blogspot. Also I have the URL in my cc profile now as being my website…Thank you for visiting:).

Thanks, Alum!

Oh, and it looks like I can just send you my address and you are welcome to send all used clothing to me. I am also 5’5", weight 120-123, and have broad shoulders. Long arms and legs. So, with your exquisite taste, I will be one happy gal. ;)

Darn. I’m 5’5 1/2" and 125…except that I have a long torso and shorter legs, and my weight is in my hips. So if either of you have clothes that are too small on top or too large on the bottom…send 'em my way!

I checked the NaraCamicie website and a IV is a US size 10. Alumother is tiny, so the shirt must run very small. I’m 5’7" 135 and I usually wear an 8 or a medium; never a 10. I’m a bit leery about ordering the III, which is a US 8.

My only reservation is that the sleeves will be too long, but I suppose the French cuff keeps the sleeve right at the wrist. I’ll probably order the IV as well.

I think that goes without saying for most of us ;)

BL - trust me, you don’t want my hand-me-downs. I try to buy quality clothing, but I keep things forever. I purchased a coat my first year ('80) as a psychologist on sale at Bloomies. It is a black wool coat (notice present tense) with a label that says Forstmann fabric designed by Central Park. I just had the lining and buttons replaced and I wear it as an everyday coat. As I recall, even on sale it was more than what I made in two weeks, but it certainly was worth every penny.

wnp, I understand completely. I have a charcoal grey wool Searle swing coat with a black velvet collar that I bought at Saks 20 years ago, in a fit of complete extravagance. It’s a timeless look, particularly for evening, and I will never part with it.

I like the Ann Taylor Jeans. I will be traveling to our outlet store next week.
I keep things forever too.
And I’m not posting my numbers here…wow you guys have it going on. You don’t NEED the diet/exercise thread!

I’m a tiny bit heavier than Alumother, about the same height, and I buy Italian size III pants and size IV tops. I think they meant “what used to be US size 10 forty years ago” ;)" I just went through all this sizing chart nightmare not so log ago trying to figure out what to order from Yoox. H and I are flying to SF in a few weeks, so that store’s address is already programmed in my Garmin :)

I’m still using the winter coat I bought when I was pregnant with my college junior. It’s German - made to last. It was cut so that 9 month of me fit in it, I still love it.

I’m 5’-7" and weighed 125 back when I got married! It’s been a long time since I weighed that - before kids certainly.

Italian clothes do run very small - I like Piazza Sempione and Etro, and I usually take a 42 and many times a 44, which is supposed to be a US 10, Yet at J Crew or Banana Republic I wear a 6.

I was below 125 when I got married and now I’m about ten pounds heavier. I’ll never be 125 again - I would look very gaunt at that weight. It seems that past the mid-40’s, we lose weight in the face, not the stomach.

the weight in the face is something I can’t get used to- all my life my face has been so round and full cheeked that I looked about 15 years younger than I was & I despaired of ever having dramatic cheekbones. * sigh*

Even though I am about twenty lbs heavier than I was when I was twenty, my face finally has the cheekbones I longed for- ( which looks great if we ignore the baggy skin under my chin )

Okay - this doesn’t exactly come under the dressing young umbrella - but…

As some of you may recall, I went in for a consult for braces. My teeth were straight as a teen/young adult and I did NOT have a problem with my bite. Fast forward 40 years, my teeth are crowded and my bite is terrible. The ortho recommended that I have my jaw broken - thought it would help a lot of problems - teeth clenching, etc.

At first I dismissed the whole thing. No way was I going to have my jaw broken!!

When my daughter was home for spring break, I was discussing this with her and as I demonstrated how the orthodontist said my jaw should be, she said I looked a lot younger and that it really diminished the sagging skin under my chin.

Well, now you can imagine what I have been doing ever since. Checking it out in the mirror. And you know what? It does make a difference. I really think a lot of that sagging we see on our neck has to do with whatever goes wrong with our jaws as we age.

My next step if I want braces is an appointment with a periodontist to make sure it is safe to get braces, but I have to admit, I am considering the jaw surgery. It really would be the ultimate in “dressing young.” I am going to take one step at a time - wisdom teeth are out, periodontist appointment is next week, but I am no longer totally dismissing the idea.

WIP…wow…breaking your jaw. I guess you need to do what makes sense. Maybe it’s not as bad as it sounds.

So, I went to my first CAbi party today and I wanted to give a report. I did buy a couple of things…but it was hard for me to find things I really liked. Some of the stuff seemed like it came out of a Chico’s store - loud flowy prints. Definitely not me. I DID buy a couple of things, a cute light gray trench and a short white knit jacket with 3/4 sleeves. Maybe I’m just too picky. I like the stuff at Ann Taylor Outlet much better…and it’s a lot cheaper too!
