yes, hopefully!!
So whoās first across the line?
Iām counting on a no. Or a yes but canāt afford it. That was I can only be surprised in good ways.
Good luck!
Funny
So while weāre awaiting the good (or maybe bad for some) news, can anyone succinctly explain how the coop works?
I know there are four and five year options which, I believe, take place during the last 2 years of attendance. The student attends class only during the first 2 years, during which you pay tuition. Then, during the last 2-3 years when they are in coop, you donāt pay tuition?
Trying to do some quick math on the total cash outlay, before aid. Thanks.
As best I can tell sometimes itās not full years. And there are 4 āsemestersā as opposed to 2? So the calendar is completely different. And itās more like six months school, six months work.
Simplest explanation is here.
Thanks!
Soā¦wondering when and how much you have to pay
Thereās no tuition during the co-op sessions, I think. But youāll likely have to call and get a specific fee schedule for your childās plan. Itās a very different academic calendar.
OK. Iām sure its far less confusing than Iām making it out to be.
If our son gets accepted (which we are hoping), weāll definitely have a hard choice to make. His acceptances are kind of all over the place: one large R1 urban in-state (top 150 nationally and for CS), one small suburban LAC in the Northeast with substantial merit(top 200 nationally and for CS), one small suburban LAC in-state, and waitlisted at a large suburban in-state 30 minutes from where we live (top 100-ish nationally, top 75 for CS).
He intends to major in CS for software engineering, and Drexel is the arguably best of the bunch (top 100 nationally, and for CS), especially with the co-op. If weāre just going by rankings (which we try not to put too much emphasis on), it comparable to the school where our son is waitlisted, though its a completely different type of institution.
With Drexel, the price tag is a killer, and we arenāt big on piling up a ton of college debt (our oldest is graduating in May from a small Midwest private with about $20k).
What time are we. thinking today? If it is in fact today? 5 PM 7 PM. waiting and waiting is killer.
Probably so. Far be it from them to relieve our angst with a notification early in the day.
The big question for me is how much to expect in earnings from the co-op.
they have data about median earnings from coop depending on the major on their website.
I mean cāmon, Drexel. This was posted yesterday on IG. Get on with the notifications already!
I saw that. Itās really helpful. Unfortunately my son is in one of the few with āNAā listed because his major is one of the ones without a traditional co-op. Heād be 2+4 architecture. So thatās definitely a call to the department. Which I wonāt have to worry about if he gets rejected.
But you do school FT for two years, then work FT for four years with PT school. Very unique program.
does anyone know what time they released RD last year?
its out!!!
Its out. Son unfortunately got declined. All the best to your kids and hoping for good news!!!
Is there an email or you just check the portal?
I checked the portal
Mine still says under review. You looking at the Discover Drexel portal?
I just refreshed my portal and it said there has been a āstatus updateā and I clicked on it!
