Duggars in the news.

Putting a pic of the son of the chairman of a major international corporation up on a website of that nature seems “malicious” to me. But as I said I do not think he even realized what he was doing. But the law doesn’t really take into account naivete’.

S told H that he searched AM to see if he was on it (he wasn’t). He didn’t search for me. There might be a compliment for me in that

I’m confused about how one searches – since it’s easy for anyone to set up a new email address, how can you search for, say, a spouse’s email if you don’t know what it is?

Koch brothers, the people who fund Scott Walker, also fund Josh Duggar’s now former employer - the anti-gay Family Research Council.

People Magazine is issuing constant updates - so if you need a Duggar fix - good source. The link below is a summary of their courtship rules and views on sex. The dichotomy is always striking - they talk about sex and all of their rules for avoiding it constantly - maybe a little less focus on the forbidden and loosening of the rules would benefit the brood.

@rockvillemom That’s what I was thinking. The kids (boys esp) are constantly being told that sex is bad, the female body is bad, impure thoughts are bad etc etc. I can’t imagine what that does to a hormone infused teenage boy’s head.

Actually I think it might make him more likely to seek out porn or not know how to handle sexual things in an appropriate way obviously.

The rest of the country seems to be able to handle seeing women in shorts and sleeveless shirts and bathing suits. Do they really think the rest of us are sex crazed fornicators because of this??

…that sex outside marriage is bad and that temptations abound. No, it didn’t work.

At least two of Anna’s siblings want her to leave Josh:

If Anna doesn’t leave Josh after this, what behavior could possibly cause her to leave him? Violence??

Similar - with a few additional details. Interesting to see the viewpoint of a family member who disagrees with the majority viewpoint.

Wow. It probably doesn’t sound very nice but I kind of what to say, “Go Daniel!”.

I think these two siblings must be the ones that have broken with Anna’s family’s religious tenets and gone off to live a more conventional lifestyle, so I imagine no one in the rest of the family cares what they think about Josh anyway. But the comments do conjure up quite an image of this year’s Thanksgiving dinner!

Advice to Anna goes viral re: raising your daughters to breath fire.

Love this! Too bad Anna Duggar will probably never read this or is she somehow happens to do so, embrace it.

Well, I have a question. I understand – sort of – the assumption that Anna would stay home and have more and more babies and Josh would be the one out there in the Real World, earning money for The Family. I understand that Anna had no upbringing that showed her how to take care of herself, if her husband turned out to be a hypocritical dirt bag whom she might want to divorce. But neither was she taught how to take care of herself if her husband ever passed away. This never entered anyone’s mind? Did these people just think that God would provide?

I’m sure the family would take care of Anna and children if her husband died.

I don’t criticize Anna for wanting to ‘stand by her man.’ She’s certainly not the first and I’m sure Hillary and Mrs. Weiner and Mrs. Spitzer all had brothers and friends saying “Leave the jerk” but they had options. Kobe Bryant’s wife stayed, Tiger’s said ‘take a hike.’ Ray Rice’s wife not only stayed with him but actually married him after he beat her. The difference I see in these cases is those women had choices and money, and chose to stay at least in the short term. I commend Anna Dugger’s brothers for giving her a choice and I hope it truly IS her choice to stay, not just a default.

Good point. My feeling is that if her husbsnd died - she would move back home with her children. None of these girls live on their own - they live at home with their parents until they are married. Jessa and Jill lived at home until their wedding day. Jana still lives at home - unmarried at 25. Basically - they are raised to obey their fathers - until they are transferred to their husband’s control. Not a culture that promotes female independence.

They follow some very conservative financial concepts and I am sure they have large life insurance policies.

“Mrs. Weiner” - LOL

I read this book . . . though it’s fictional, it’s an interesting potential “window” into that world. The main character breaks away (though she didn’t marry) but it’s very hard for her.
