I find it interesting that the Duggars are becoming more and more like the Kardashians. Nothing is private. Everything is promoted on social media. Even scandals become part of the never-ending self-promotion. I have really heard enough from both families this week.
Their economic model depends on people watching, following, ( commenting on CC)
If we all ignore them they will have to go away because they have no function other than being a spectacle.
I will not watch any future Duggar show. That ship has sailed.
Yea, I didn’t watch the special on sexual abuse, either… will not watch any future shows.
Some days, just some days, I actually click on this thread, hoping someone has finally linked a story that says the entire Duggar clan has made a pact with each other that their reality day shows are done, that they really value how the others in the family live and will respect their privacy… or that TLC is done with them.
If no TLC, etc, they would not be able to afford the lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed!

If this is not a cult, I don’t know what is… complete submission to a hierarchy, and real threats if that submission is not honored.
Me too. I also feel that they do not help the cause of homeschooling.
The thing that bugs me most are the kids being public figures with little to no choice in the matter. Even if they do choose it, do they truly know what they’re choosing? We don’t let little kids enter into contracts for a reason.
Yes, Jana is another reason they upset me. They should literally force her out of the nest, into something that she enjoys or wants to be doing. She probably has a hyper-inflated sense of responsibility for the younger kids, especially with Jill and Jessa gone.
The episode where Josie had her seizure - Jana looked so scared, bless her heart.
I think that, for now, she may be enjoying her ‘traditional female’ role. She has been outside the edges of the family yard, knew the camera crew and others, has seen Amy not tethered, etc. She’s reportedly shy. Being a wife and mom may be her “it.”
And soon enough, she will be forced out…into a marriage. Then we’ll inspect that feller with our magnifying glasses.
I don’t see why they can’t at least encourage Jana to go that Christian college that Erin Bates went to. Erin studied music (I think Jana likes music too).
It’s fine if she wants to be a wife and mom - but let it be her own family!
Even Michaela Bates got married (finally). But she had jobs outside the family.

So I was reading another story tonight about another cult, and someone was asked why they didn’t leave the church (cult) earlier, and they replied, "You don’t realize you’re breathing carbon dioxide until you breathe oxygen again.”
I think this is a lot of what it must be like being a Duggar and expected to uphold their beliefs and those of the IBLP. They just don’t know otherwise.

Thank goodness for the skirts…I’m sure it helped all the boys in the family from having impure thoughts.
That’s the idea, covering from neck to below the knee helps prevent the act of ‘defrauding’ which is stirring up sexual desire that cannot be righteously fulfilled.
