It creeped me out. Changed the channel-- am watching criminal minds. Well, wouldn’t you know its an episode that involves pedophiles.
^^I saw the last 15 minutes of it. A 13 year old pregnant girl marrying a pastor. (with the parents present) I was mortified.
Fortunately the priest gets arrested before the ceremony is over.
It’s kind of unfair that this show rips inspiration from the headlines. I think many people, potential jurors, lack the ability to separate reality from fiction.
But the actress that played the mother nailed Michele Duggar. She was a blond, shorter haired version but her facial expressions were perfect.
^I completely agree. She really sounded like Michelle at times. She even had that breathy tone to her voice like Michelle does. The show was kind of creepy though…
No baby for Jessa yet? Isn’t she overdue by now?? And wonder who is delivering her baby if Jill is gone “studying” .
One of the things Warren Jeffs was nailed for was “marrying” a 13-year old in such a situation, so maybe the storyline was a hybrid.
I would hope something like that would not happen in real life. God help the person who dares to come near my children with bad intentions.

I guess a saving grace in all this, is that those kids are very much shielded from outside social media. My guess is, they spend much of their formative years not knowing how many people are taking digs at them because, how would they find out? I’m sure their parents aren’t telling them. But then, once they’re adults and make more of those decisions for themselves, they have a steep learning curve.
No one is saying anything about the younger kids. Its just the parents and the married ones.
I hope the younger ones have a better life and are raised in a safe environment.
Oh, I know they’re not criticizing the younger kids, but with as closed of a circle that these kinds of families live, it is probably imperative that they are able to maintain an innocent environment with regards to their siblings - their family members are pretty much the whole world to them due to their sheltering, and they shouldn’t be faced with the ugliness that is social media until they are older. Since last spring, the negative stuff being written about Josh, Anna, Jessa, Jill and JB and Michelle has grown incrementally with each new story that comes out (yes, it was out there before, but it obviously escalated mid 2015), but these are the ‘adults’ in the younger ones lives, and who they depend on for their survival. If these kids were actually in any sort of non-home-school setting, exposed to other kids who do hear about this stuff and could repeat it back to them, it would be traumatic.
We can only hope.

SVU was brilliant last night. Not gonna spoil (though someone already spoiled it on here) but it was a great watch.
I find it interesting that despite their midwifery skills, both Jill and Jessa ended up hospitalized for or after child birth. I am glad Jessa and baby are ok, but it seems so hypocritical after watching many episodes where they show home births and preach how much better it is for both mother and baby. But it is not always a safe choice, as their own experiences show.
