Duke 2015 ED applicants

Why would 346 words NOT be ok? As long as it is between 1-3 paragraphs, you are fine.

I am wondering what my chances are of getting into duke. I applied ED, but I am 22nd in my class of 240 (still top 10 percent) but I am taking 4 AP’s this year and I had straight A’s during my first quarter grade report, but I made 1 B every other year in high school, and a 2000 on my SAT. I do have 6 legacy ties though… my great grandfather, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, mom and dad.

346 words is perfectly fine. Don’t stress it.

@1234chem depends on how many APs you took other years as well as your extracurriculars. Your SAT score is towards the low end of accepted however your grades definitely seem up to par.

yeah. I took two APs last year and made a B in one of them, but it seems that I am on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of class rank and SAT scores, I have had three generations of my family going to duke though, but I don’t know if legacy counts for much…

although I am captain of the wrestling team and the only one applying ED to duke from my school

If you’re getting recruited for wrestling you have no problem getting in. If not, as everyone says, it’s a crap shoot.

Thanks for your opinions Buntyugo and MilaCapulet! The final draft ended up being 330 words, 3 paras. So it’s all good. :)

I’ve been wondering though: Why isn’t there a Duke RD thread? Then I wouldn’t have to bother all you EDers. :p

ah I do love crap shots… but I do wish I had a better idea of whether or not I am going to get in, guess I’ll just have to wait till tuesday.

Less than 100 hours left.

Get ready for the longest weekend of ours lives.

Just a quick question: Do we know where on the page the decision will be displayed? I’m having someone else log in for me, and the last thing I want is to not be able to find the decision.

who else is applying from NC here?

@Stallion63

Hello fellow Pratt hopeful! I was despairing of meeting another one!

OMG themoutebank, I know who you are!!!

exactly four days.

<4 days! So close…

haha gettin soooooo close and @broman, you got a two-time state championship jewish athlete right here hahaahah

Ugh im starting to get annoyed of all these kids getting their E.D. decisions from other schools. Comon’ Duke, let us knowwwww! The 14th is too far away…

Whoa I’m also a jewish athlete - weird.
@1234chem I’m also captain of my wrestling team and possibly wrestling at duke next year - if I get in. What have your conversations with the coaches been like? I wonder if your recruiting process was similar to mine

I’m a Jewish athlete too! Well…I’m half Catholic, but I’ve been Bat Mitzvah’d so I supposed it still counts.

Oh, I am really nervous about the ED result. I have seen many other universities’ result has come out. Lot’s of people with high SAT got rejected by Colombia and many with SAT around 2100 got into Cornell. I just wish Duke will not be so rigorous and admit more students through the ED round this year.
