Hey guys I don’t mean to make anyone crazy but I just have a question about something and I would like some varying opinions because i am confused as to what to think.

on november 29th i got a personalized email from a clerk within the admissions officer tellings me that through looking through my file they saw i was missing my ed agreement so they needed me to send it by december 3th. the logic is that if they needed it from everybody then it would be part of like the standard “applicant checklist” or if they checked everybodies than i would have gotten the email earlier. idk i could be reading too much into it but it would make logical sense that after making admissions decision they have their clerks check the files of the admitted students to ensure they have all the necessary paperwork like the ed agreement, like why would they waste their time checking and individually contacting me if i was rejected or even differed since they my ed agreement wouldnt matter either way.

this is probably just my brain trying to make myself feel better about everything but if this happened to anyone else please let me know.

They don’t review your application until it’s completed in it’s entirety because they have a holistic approach to the application process. There was probably the time gap because thats when they just got to looking at yours. The most likely answer is that they require this and every other part of the application to be evaluated.

but if this was the case where it was a necessity, why wouldn’t it be in the application checklist along with our common app, supplements, recs, ect

ahhh it doesnt matter thank you for the response lrose i guess well see what happens in a few days.

Hey! That is so weird because around nov 29ish I got a personalized (it wasn’t a stock email haha) from a clerk in the fin aid department requesting some documents pertaining to the PROFILE, so I thought, “Hmmm. They wouldn’t care unless i was admitted…” but apparently the fin aid and admissions dept are totally seperate, so that’s not really indicative of anything haha:) but in your case, since it was directly from the admissions office, IT COULD BE A SIGN…

Think about it, there was a flooded increase in apps, so duke isn’t going to run around tracking missing docs for just anyone…? I mean, you may be onto something! good luck!

it was a requirement on my commonapp profile, it told me the school wasnt complete until it was signed, so i dont know, but you’re right, almost exactly two days to know, at this point.

I got the same email from you on the same day. I’ve been thinking the same thing lol, but it was probably just standard to check everybody’s for the ED agreement.

yeah supposedly there was an error with the common app services which caused some ed agreements not to be processed correctly. Hopefully it is somehow good news because they took the time to ensure we had ours on file. Just out of curiosity how do you feel you are as applicant in terms of competitiveness?

I got that same e-mail too, and a girl applying ED to another school also got an e-mail saying they had not received her ED agreement. I’m sure it’s just an error on common app’s part and Duke sent out an e-mail to every person who didn’t have it in.

I’m with shockazulu, I’m sure it just something they do to ensure everybody has had a fair chance at submitting all their items for their application. I got an email saying that my application was complete, and they would contact me if they needed anything else or had any questions in early November.
I never received the ED agreement email on/around the 29th because that was one of the first things I mailed (via snail mail) to them.

I feel the need to comment on other schools’ ED threads because nobody is talking on the Amherst thread. I just want you guys to know that I feel your painnnn! It’s less than 48 hours for us too!

I’m pretty sure we have destroyed previous years’ totals in terms of total post count and total threads made. This must mean we are way better applicants, and thus very many of us will get in.
