@CoramDeo7 just checked my parchment account and I see no difference
@CoramDeo7 My son’s account requires him to physically click his decisions. Maybe there’s a way a school updates, but I’m not aware of it. His still looks the same.
Thank you @zeedoq and @Alamom. @Alamom I’m talking about the ‘Dashboard’ where it shows the list of all the colleges a student is applying to. This morning Duke was missing and was found over in the ‘Accepted’ tab.
@CoramDeo7 Fingers crossed for you!! It certainly sounds promising.
@CoramDeo7 - Your son must have done it. Duke has certainly no access to your Parchment account.
@yalebound2020, he doesn’t even have access to it. I set it up with my email address because he is not super interested in chances/speculations and prefers to just wait till decisions come out (which is why I’m on here instead of him.)
@CoramDeo7 - It must be an act of magic then, because Parchment doesn’t change anything and Duke has certainly not access to it… good luck to your son!
Thanks @yalebound2020. Only other thing I can think of is a glitch. When I first opened the dashboard it said, “Accepted and Attending” for Duke. When I refreshed the page (in disbelief) it somehow went to just “Accepted.” There was one other time, about a month ago that when I logged on that the Dashboard put Duke at a 69% chance of acceptance, whereas every other time it has said 40%. No new data had been entered, and none of the other schools were changed, and when I refreshed Duke went back down to 40%. Maybe Parchment is not airtight in it’s reliability. Would love to think it’s a good sign, though! The admissions office for Duke did call about a month ago to ask a clarifying question on his application about homeschooling, and after we talked she asked me to fax my answer with attn: to the woman I spoke with.
@CoramDeo7 - The call is a great sign, maybe he is already in! Parchment? Don’t think so. At least, it doesn’t meet the criteria of the holistic approach? Stay positive!
I’m so worried for you parents on here haha. Let ya kids figure it out for themselves! My family hasn’t helped me at all in my college process and I’ve turned out fine. Praying for those kids in college.
Amen. @KYF4CK
Well let’s not be judgmental. We have all received help at one point or another and in one shape or another.,EVEN-U!
Bottom line this has not been a single person accomplishment to this point nor will it be a single person commitment going forward. The fact that you are here pursuing this opportunity means that people) other than U) did something right - HELPED!. In any case, NOW it affects the kid and immediate family (often even extended family) so be understanding.
Let’s not patronize each another. Let’s support, encourage and inspire each other instead. We all believe that a quality education is paramount to success.
@IfnousWHO I understand. I am all for supporting, but it can become overbearing. Good luck to everyone!
@KYF4CK
The point is one day you will be a parent too and will have a better appreciation of their concerns. Again, let’s only entertain positive thoughts and actions (AMEN TO THAT!)
@KYF4CK I think it can be easy to make assumptions. There are several reasons why a parent might be on here that don’t include worrying or being overbearing. My son is very level headed and matter of fact about the whole college admissions process. He’s a very bright and mature kid, who is pretty confident in himself and ok waiting patiently for the results. He will be fine no matter what they are. So will his parents. One of many reasons a parent such as myself might be here is that I love my son and find the whole process exciting and interesting. I like hearing the comments, I like the anticipation.
I’m genuinely pleased to hear you have reached a healthy level of competency on your own. Sounds like some things went right in your upbringing. I’m sure your parents are proud that you’re taking the steps you are.
My situation is quite different. My son was fine with my involvement when financial documents and the like were a priority, but he handles things quite differently from me. He is an introvert, while I want to talk about EVERYTHING! Rather than nag him I rely on information I gather on these forums. In other words, I choose to nag all of you! (Insert evil laugh here)
I totally understand that, @alamom. And my main role in the whole process involved the financial documents, too.
Hey guys a quick question. I just logged in my Duke portal and it lead me to an ERROR page, it happened a lot recently. Does anyone have the same problem too?
@Summer1998 mine was fine every time i logged in…
Mine has had the error for a while now…
