ACCEPTED!!!
The yield is based on matriculated students/admitted number. However, about 97% + of ED admits accept the admission which means the RD yield is lower.
accepted! does anyone know if merit scholarship opportunities are still available or if those people have already been notified?
@mdbluedevil Don’t be dejected! Consider transferring in or attending graduate school at Duke Good luck!
Duke’s yield this year should be around 50%. That’s perfectly respectable and in the ballpark of schools like Dartmouth and Cornell. Duke practices zero yield protection (for better or for worse) and will accept a stellar applicant regardless of whether or not he/she is likely to attend.
Also, Duke has a very strong regional and national reputation. This means that it ends up waging many of its cross admit battles against HYPSM universities (many top students from the south only apply to HYPSM and Duke as their “reaches”). Duke beats Chicago, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Hopkins etc. in cross admit battles according to Parchment.com. It ties with Penn and Columbia but actually has a slight advantage that is not statistically significant. It beats every LAC in the country and only loses outright to HYPSM. However, the yield is still not higher than 50% because of the magnitude of the overlap with HYPSM.
It’s also worth pointing out that Stanford is the only other elite private university that has a top 5 public university in its home state. Attending UNC-CH can be significantly less expensive for in-state students who don’t qualify for need based aid.
I don’t want to check the decision and disappoint myself so I am just sitting here with my heart beating like crazy
Do it!
Accepted!!!
Doesn’t coming off of the waitlist depend on the college you were admitted. If wait listed for engineering, then wouldn’t your chance be based on the number of engineering students that accepted admission? DS was wait listed for engineering from OOS.
@predent
Wow! Thx
