Duke Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

@College4real I read about a case on another thread where a latino student got accepted without a LSRW invite and was then sent one afterwards. I don’t know how often that happens though, but I stand by what I said that it is illogical they would invite 400+ students to LSRW. Staying hopeful…

I agree with @Pastpower. Unless you recieve a likely letter there is just no possible way to know about your decision until Duke itself releases them. The document/fin aid dates on the portal and common app are just due dates and are no reason to panic. I know we’re all super anxious so just hope for the best, expect the worst, and try to stay distracted until Thursday :slight_smile:

Good to know, @unknown2022, but it would depend how many people show up don’t you think? I don’t know what their yield is on invites so if they sent out 400 and 200 showed up (based on their history with this) maybe that is not far fetched to send everyone an invite. Do you know how many people show up in a given year, usually? I haven’t seen that info

@unknown2022, for example if it’s like 75 then I agree there’s no way the yield would be that low, hence they could not have sent everyone admitted an invite

Check page 5.
Attendance is at 60-80. Don’t know if that has changed.

@unknown2022 then I tend to agree with you. I would peg Latino admits at no less than 375 and appx. 70 attendees would be too low if they all were receiving invites. I got a verification request form on idoc from Duke a couple months ago but that was it. Have you received any verification request?

dont see the attendance numbers. maybe i overlooked it

Not expecting much, started week with Rejections (Emory-Waitlisted, GT-Rejected). Looks like will end same. I am glad that I got accepted into Davidson and UNC-CH.

I got into Rice which I’m really happy about, but it would be amazing if I also got into Duke since I live in NC.

@College4real I don’t recall getting anything from a specific university on IDOC. Was it Duke specific or a general verification request?

@JayZee21 It says:
“Attendance at LSRW has remained consistent over the past few years, and last year’s attendance was no different. The weekend averages around 60 to 80 attendees, and over half of the students who attend LRSW enroll at Duke the following fall, said Ashley Taylor, senior admissions officer, Latino recruiter and LSRW coordinator.”
It’s from Sept. 2015.

@unknown2022 thanks so much and best to u in decision process!

Ivies are released a day before Duke but I’m really praying hard for Duke as well! I had an incredible interview

I honestly not that nervous for decisions bc I know I’m not getting in lol :))

@kuhlm44937 Be positive. lol

@Unknown2022, Yes the request was from Duke.

@heretoparty98 I have the same forms as you, with the addition of one called Schedule D from Fed Tax Return

Also, I just recently noticed on IDOC that Duke requested a document called “Verification Statement - Dependent Student” Does anyone else have this?

@collegeishard225 Yes!

@collegeishard225 my “Verification Statement - Dependent Student” was requested back in Jan from Cornell, so some might already have it processed. Home stretch peeps, hang in there :wink:

@College4real Was it the “Verifiication Statement” for dependent students? Mine has been processed since January 4th. Other than that I don’t have any verification forms on IDOC.
