For those who got in, what are your stats?
@reeeyeeee Congratulations! That fits the youtube link shared earlier. Trinity is more holistic. Pratt only likes high stats even if sometimes they are less impactful people. You must have had some special qualities!!! Perfect stats are over rated. My friendās son had them & was admitted & she laughs that he just hangs in his dorm watching Netflix!
@ArbonneMom I assume you suspect race was involved?
Didnāt post stats earlier - D20 accepted, 3.96 uw/4.6 w, 35 ACT, full IB diploma with 6 additional AP classes. 2/350ish. Main ecās were ballet and robotics. No hooks.
@ArbonneMom
National Merit & excellent stats are not uncommon or a big deal at Duke. Itās Duke! Many of of their applicants have that and are denied. Geographic region, major, and unfortunately school can influence. Our school and state rarely get anyone in. So I saw my kidās rejection comingā¦Sorry about your son. We are disappointed too-but truly their loss. Best to your son!
I like how you look at it, @2020soon - very true!
And @JBfortunecookie1 , itās not race. Hereās why: Heās only competing against other white males. Heās not competing against females, or minorities. There are a few slots for white males. But itās the school where he attends, and the area of the country we are in. (only 1 person has ever gotten in to Duke from there. They donāt like that itās a Christian school.)
@2022soon Thanks man preciate it lol
@ArbonneMom Ohh I see. Tbh I didnāt realize Christian Schools would be something they donāt like.
@reeeyeeee Truly meant that as a compliment! Good luck at Duke. I bet you will do amazing thing. Make an impact.
@ArbonneMom
Yes, schools are a hidden factor. Friends of mine w/ kids admitted tonight from other states have schools that take Duke applicants year after year. Our school advised my kid not to waste his ED on Duke. They have started to tell students not to apply since Duke does not admit our students. Others even IVYās - do. I know you guys will have better luck elsewhere. Hang in there!!
I got into!!! Class of ā24! Congrats to all.
I have similar stats (ACT, grades, APs, etc.) and did not get in either. Donāt worry about it, it really sucks but it opens up so many new doors. Best of luck.
Accepted! Canāt wait to meet yāall.
Stats: 1510 SAT I, 34 Composite ACT, 13 AP Classes/Exams, 4.0 UW GPA, Class Rank 1/270ish
Hooks: LGBT, Cuban, Female
ECs: Golf, Gay Straight Alliance, STEAM Academy, SGA, NHS, NASA HUNCH Engineer Team Leader, Air Force JROTC, Theatre
Its a crap shoot. Every kid applying is brilliant. I think it takes one sentence or one unique activity to spark selection committeeās interest. Daughter got in. National Merit Semi-Finalist, 4.0 unweighted, 4.6 weighted, ACT 35, SAT 1560, good athletics and research resume. My sense is that they are starting to get like the Harvardās of the world - only choosing a few from each area of the country so you are competing against the whole pool of applicants, and the local applicants (including athletes who receiving scholarships) so they can have diversity of location on top of all the other mix of students with varying backgrounds they try to admit.
@2022soon @ArbonneMom @JBfortunecookie1
They donāt care about Christian schools. Thatās a made up prejudice. I went to a Christian school and got in 2023, with an 18% ED acceptance rate that year; was the first to ever get in. Itās nothing against Christian schools lol thatās made up BS.
D was accepted! Congrats to all!

My son was accepted!!
Biology major, Chem minor.
ACT 35 - took once in the fall of junior year. Midsize (1250) highly-respected very academic college prep public high school in So California; placements in Ivies but no strong history with Duke. Son took three science classes at Stanford the summer before senior year, (As and applied to Duke with a Stanford transcript), 12 APs total, 4 Honors classes, captain of a varsity sport, volunteering, 800s on SAT Chem, Bio and Math II, National Merit Semi-Finalist in CA (California and Mass. have highest thresholds for NMF), 4.0 unweighted, 4.7 weighted at the end of first semester of senior year. Did have a 30-minute, pleasant local alumni interview. We were asked to upload additional financial aid docs the third week of November. Pros: impeccable academics and involvement / Cons: suburban, upper middle class white male. We figured it could go either way. SO MANY kids just like him⦠maybe not at his high school, but competing for spots at an elite, national university. Keep your heads up! GREAT things are coming!
BTW - Duke is affiliated with the Methodist Church. Coming from a Christian school is certainly no problem.
