I haven’t heard anything yet, hoping to hear in the next week or two.
Duke’s website says that not everyone will be offered an interview and they are on a first come first serve basis. Some regions/areas may not have any or enough alumni interviewers to accommodate all of the applicants. If you are not contacted by November 20th, you may provide an additional letter of recommendation in lieu of the interview.
Their website also says: Your chances of admission won’t be affected adversely if we are unable to offer you an interview, nor will they be affected if you choose not to send an extra recommendation.
We are in RI and she was contacted on Saturday 11/9 for interview.
I’m from Long Island and was just contacted today for an interview
D20 is from Los Angeles and applied 10/28 and has not heard back about an interview.
I wonder what Penn’s 14% ED drop this year means for other competitive schools like Duke? I will be curious to know if that’s a trend this year.
@2022soon What are some theories if it is a trend?
Just a quick update that my D had her interview yesterday and she said it was a lot of fun.
Does anyone know whether or not the post ED results online or send something in the mail? Also, I know the results are supposed to come out by December 15 but do they ever come out sooner? I just had my interview on Thursday and it was eye opening! (I live in Ohio)
As an update. D did hear back from an alum and her interview is next week.
@Iskhdbfva what was so “eye opening”?
Hi @filetmignon has your SAT score showed up for Duke? My son is considering applying for Duke, we are trying to figure out if he can do as you did on SAT score, just self-report one section for one test date, and another section score from a different test date. Thanks!
@lskhdbfva , their practice in the past has been to post them to your portal.
Applied ED – I was reached out to for an interview over the summer after expressing interest in the ROTC program and reaching out to the admissions officers who organized it for me. I had it already this fall. My friend also just applied ED and already had his interview. I live in NC it could just be based on location but idk. Perhaps you can email admissions. hope that helped
My D’s status on her portal has changed from the checklist to:
“Your application for admission to Duke University is currently being evaluated.” Has anyone else got this too?
My son heard from an alumni interviewer on November 17. My guess is that people will continue to be contacted through this week. I do alumni interviews for another comparable college (although not this year per policy). This is a volunteer-run endeavor, and some volunteers are slow to read/react to their email, or find they are unavailable or know the applicant and must ask to have them re-assigned. I have received requests to take another interview within a few days of the submission deadline. Colleges that use alumni interviews understand that the process isn’t perfect. If you don’t get an interview, just get another letter of recommendation. Honestly, interviews are probably more important during RD. By applying ED, you have made your enthusiasm clear, and probably put a lot of effort into your application to best present yourself to Duke.
yes
I applied ED and couple days ago my parents received an email requesting more financial information along with a few papers I had to sign. Did anyone else get this and does it mean I forgot to do something on my original application?
Yes that happened to my D too.
@neonpinklime do you have any idea what that means?
I’m hopeful that they are asking so they can put together an aid package. It could be a good thing.
