When did you apply?
My daughter put her application in on Oct 30th and you see the way it has all played out above. I donāt think them asking for any documents mean anything, justs like an alumni interview. I was trying to give you a timeline. It wasnāt till after I turned in the idocs, that my few days later my daughter noticed it finally said her application was under review.
I agree with the others that say that the request for additional information means nothing as it relates to a candidateās acceptance or not at this point in the process.
Who knows? Maybe they request the information that they would need and donāt do anything with it unless they need to later in the process. I am not suggesting that I know that this is what they do, I am just saying that it is a possibility along with other scenarios. Also, some situations may not require additional information because the financial situation is less complicated or the need or lack thereof is clear from the beginning.
It is hard to wait, but that is all that you can do at this pointā¦
JudiMc72- Perhaps we arenāt talking about the same thing. The deadline to file for ED was Nov 1st. The deadline to file for financial aid, which requires the FAFSA and the much more detailed CSS profile, was Nov. 15th. Once those are submitted your status will change to āunder reviewā. I am talking about an additional IDOC request which came about 3 weeks later.
Iām not claiming that an IDOC request on this timeline indicates absolute acceptance but with thousands of ED applications to review in a matter of 5-6 weeks, requesting additional info. from everyone seeking financial aid, regardless of their likelihood of being admitted, would be wildly inefficient.
Iām trying to figure out if Iāve experienced what you all have. After a couple weeks, my fin aid part of my portal out of the blue started asking for more detailed docs (like the tax returns, W2, business stuff) that I had to upload through the IDOC system but I never received any email. I only found out because I checked my portal. Am I experiencing the same thing?
@FrostyCakes Iām not sure that was the same thing, as everyone else Iāve talked to that received the request got the forms via email. What was the date you received thee request again? And did you request financial aid? Iām also trying not to put too much wait on it, but I donāt see them being able to request extra information from every one of the thousands of students who applied ED, especially when they could have just put it on the initial financial application.
@FrostyCakes I am not sure if my son received an email requesting the IDOC information or if it was just through the portal that he was notified. It sounds like the same type of request, either way. We had to go into the IDOC site and upload W-2s, 1040s, etc. I did i for my son and there were no email forms, all was done on the third partyās portal.
Like I said in my earlier post, there are many ways that you could look at these requests for more information other than assuming that they request this information from only those that have already been selected.
One thing that stood out to me when we visited was that they proudly said that 51% of the students receive financial aid. That means that 49% do not. So, most of those 49% would probably not need additional information requested. That cuts the workload in half from what @lskhdbfva is describing.
Just wondering, has anyone received anything from Duke about how to view the decision? On the portal, it says that they will send instructions about how to check the decision in early December, but I have yet to receive anything like that. Has anyone received any updates on their application?
I havenāt received anythinn regarding how to see decision. I have been checking daily. I think itāll be sent out sometime tomorrow or Tuesday.
@lskhdbfva I donāt know what the date was when my portal suddenly wanted that financial information, and I did request financial aid. Itās weird, but I guess all we can do is wait for decisions⦠good luck to everyone!
@BuckDaddy Iām pretty sure we are talking about the same thing. I had my FASFA and my CSS completed at the time my daughter submitted her application. it was on the 8th, that they came back for additional information.
All in all, it really sounds like everyone looking for financial aid received this.
The waiting game is crazy, but at this point, we will all know by this time next week!!! Yay,
On a different note, is anyone else having a hard time finding the motivation to start working on other applications?
What other schools are you all looking at?
Looking through the āDuke ED 2023ā forum, it does not appear everyone seeking financial aid received an IDOC request. What does it mean?? Who knows. It will be interesting to see if there is any correlation later this week.
JudiMc72- Other schools- Ohio State (already accepted, this was our safety school) U of Michigan and U of Virginia. Only applied to 4 schools. We are not in the āapply to every ivy plus Stanford and hope someone accepts meā crowd.
My son submitted a bunch of EAās - UNC, UVA, Michigan/Ross, Richmond and some that had a Dec 1 Merit Scholarship deadline - Emory, Wake and Wash U. He has a few more āreachesā ready to go next weekend, that we are hoping/praying not to send! Good luck to all of you - I know the waiting game is torture!!
My daughter wanted schools that had good science programs and research work. 2nd thing she looked for was a smaller school (Her graduating class is 11 students). 3rd was that she decided she didnāt want to be so far that she couldnāt come home once in a blue to decompress.
So here are her schools
Elon University, she would only want to go to this school if she got into the fellowās program.
Davidson University
Wake Forest University
University of North Carolina at Chaple Hills (the size makes her nervous)
Washington and Lee University (Still questionable, shes read bad things about the diversity and that seems to be important to her, so we may be taking a road trip)
William and Mary
I would have thought Georgetown would have been on her list after working with Dr Giordano (Chief of Georgetown Universityās Neuroethics Studies), on research over the summer, she went on for weeks on how she could have just listened to him lecture for hours, but I think DC looses the charm for her.
Yessss I submitted a couple of EA but aside from that I havent really worked on any others. Im anxiously awaiting an email about the release date, does anyone know when the results will be in? I know its BY the 15th but I heard historically its earlier
Yeah I canāt find any motivation to do either RD applications or school work for the next few days, hopefully I wonāt have to do those apps haha
Should be this Thursday at 7 if they follow the trends of the past years. We should get an email tonight or tomorrow saying exactly when decisions come out
Hi all,
Just got the email. The decision is coming out 7pm Eastern time on Thursday (for all those in London thatās midnight!)
