Duke LAX case discussion continued.....;)

And a statement of belief of innocence.

I can only hope the “real prosecutors” file criminal charges against that lying stripper for malicious prosecution. I would also like to see the three players sue the stripper. They won’t collect much money, but they need to teach that worthless woman a lesson. Hopefully, they will add the New Black Panthers (and a few others) as defendants for their defamation.

These are special prosecutors. They are probably getting ready to announce a perjury investigation of the LaCrosse players that they can then drag out for the next 5 years. Then charges of lying about a crime that never took place.

I say all that only half jokingly. It really wouldn’t surprise me if the prosecutors called this meeting to over a plea deal.

Thoughts, prayers, and best wishes going out to the LAX players and their families. Hopefully these charges will be dropped and the healing process can begin–And the young lives which have been placed on “hold” can be resumed without the dark cloud of this devastating set of events.

~berurah

My guess is, if offered a plea, the players would utter the same words John Burness was quoted with yesterday with respect to an apology - “For What?”

Nifong was hoping to harass these players into a plea deal. They are innocent of all the charges, so why should they plea??

A year of their lives were stolen by this strung out dancer and a DA who railroaded them to win an election–I’m hoping they are completely exonerated!

<a href=“Charges Dropped in Duke Lacrosse Case - ABC News”>http://abcnews.go.com/US/LegalCenter/story?id=3028515&page=1

Yes, NBC news is reporting the same information. It’s the top story on the Today Show.

This is wonderful news for these innocent men and their families. They definitely should be exonerated completely!

(If this decision is announced today, many of the vocal supporters of the Accuser will be distracted. Headline news is that they are all out protesting in support of the firing of Imus…;))

YES!!!

Did they announce it - I have CNN on, there’s nothing yet…maybe another channel…

From CNN Breaking News:

“The North Carolina Attorney General’s office says it will make an announcement on the Duke lacrosse rape case at 2:30 p.m. ET.”

Thanks, I see CNN has been running the headliner. Frustrating to have to wait until 2:30 - I hope the announcement includes that charges will be brought against the accuser, and against Nifong, but, that’s probably too much to hope for…

I also hope something is covered about the future plans the young man may have - I wonder if Seligmann was accepted at Brown (or perhaps a very nice school of similar ranking), and if so, if he plans to matriculate…

The defense attorneys will be holding a press conference at 4 p.m. at the Sheraton (in Raleigh, I think). The 2:30 AG press conference is going to be at the RBC Center in Raleigh (where the Carolina ice hockey team and the NC State basketball team plays)–they must be expecting a big crowd!!

Hooray for the anticipated news!! :D

In a word - AWESOME!!!

Well…hopefully it’s awesome. I hope it’s not a “non-event”, such as “not enough evidence” or something lame. I truly hope it’s complete exhoneration, combined with a few new charges files against some very deserving miscreants.

But, I’d guess that the three young men and their families would NOT have made the effort to travel back to NC unless they had been given some heads up that it would be more than just a benign announcement, right?

It truly is good news and a long time in coming! I agree, latetoschool, that I hope it is exhoneration, rather than not enough evidence rationale.

I saw online that apparently the three young men have already been informed of the decision prior to the press conference and won’t be learning of it at the same time as it is announced.

It should never have gone this far. I hope there is fallout in the prosecuting or disbarring of Nifong and that some changes to avoid this sort of thing can be made in the future.

I also read online today that whatever the announcement or oucome of the decision that was to come out today, that the defense attorneys are planning to file a civil case against Nifong.

Nifong is set to go before the State Bar on June 12. Expect civil suits against Nifong and against Duke University.

Thank goodness!!! This terrible injustice is over. Tho the civil piece will most likely proceed - for justice for the Duke students.

Thank you to the state of NC for looking into this terrible situation and making it right.

He faces charges from the State Bar on ethics violations and could face disbarment. No surprise. I wonder what the Duke lawsuit would be…related to being suspended…
