Duke LAX case discussion continued.....;)

DukeEng93~I knew the dancer and the people there were taking it seriously (although they never showed the “crowd”, so hard to tell how many attended), but the words were just too over the top–and the line you quoted was pretty hilarious!!! :D

Will Ferrell would have been a great touch!!

I much prefer to watch this kind of dancing than the kind the “exotic” dancer was hired to perform in Durham. At least it is more tasteful.

Irish-
Especially Will Ferrell in pig tails.
I’m laughing so hard, it hurts. And people in my office are staring.

Will Ferrell does tend to make for crazy laughter, mafool!!! It would be funny to see him be Nifong in a SNL spoof about the case!!

soozievt - I agree, and actually wrote about the idea that having 60 Minutes show the pictures taken at the party probably did more to turn folks against the team than to get people behind them.

I, personally, prefer watching “Dancing With The Stars.”

Darrell Hammond would make a better Nifong than Will Ferrell. (What’s with all these double consonants?)

Ferrell could be a protestor/rabble raiser, doing interpretive dance, playing the cowbell.

SS ^^ hahahaha - what a mental picture that is LOL

MORE COWBELL!!! :D

That Cowbell sketch was just on the other night–couldn’t stop laughing!!

SS~you’re right about Darrell Hammond!! Think of what the made-for TV movie might be like with the right casting!!?? ;)

I believe the next phase of all this is [really heating up.](Newsday | Long Island's & NYC's News Source - Newsday) I hope it is not a distraction to the team as it goes to the NCAA’s.

Also interesting how this came out just before graduation weekend, and the Durham Police report…which is now over a week late…is expected tomorrow as well.

I haven’t yet finished reading the first chapter but already have read that when they called to order the two strippers, they said that 20-30 would be present at the party. I recall many posts and public stories that the team misled the escort service into thinking it was a small party so that security chaperones were not needed. But it appears that they said right along that the party was a biggish gathering. Also, they were told one woman was Hispanic and one had brown hair with blond highlights, which again disputes so many posts and public articles that claimed that the guys wanted Black strippers. Not so.

DukeEng93~using a page out of the Nifong play book, WRAL is reporting that the DPD might not have that report ready by today…probably will be out next week…delay…delay…

They really need to step up and face the music. They let Nifong take over the investigation, and now they’re going to try to come up with some lame excuses or pretend as though nothing out of the ordinary happened with this case with regard to the DPD’s role!

Here’s the deal - the Trustees meet this weekend, so I can see where it would be “useful” for a delay past when the 36 can get together and analyze the thing collectively… Not responsible, or demonstrating accountability, but certainly useful.

Well…they did get it out today, and what a joke!! City Manager Baker has blamed the defense attorneys for what happened. He said that they did not bring exculpatory evidence to the police, in spite of many requests??? And, of course (no surprise!), the April 4 lineup wasn’t really a lineup, they were just trying to figure out who was and wasn’t at the party. It’s not DPD’s fault that Nifong used it as a means of finding the “3” he needed to indict!!

When are the Feds going to come in and investigate??? Did anyone really think that the DPD would take any blame???

The text of the report is at www.wral.com

And KC Johnson has some great comments about this “whitewash” on his Durham in Wonderland blog!

I love the slogan printed on the bottom of the Durham Stationary!!

I especially like the City Manager blaming the Defense attorneys for “withholding” exculpatory evidence.

When Seligman’s attorneys released his Alibi, the first thing the police did was arrest the cab driver.

Of course the defense should have shared more information with this out of control rogue investigation

Not that is breaking news, but I remember the photo lineup procedure being heavily discussed in the earlier thread.

Duke has reached an out of court settlement with Kyle Dowd, an LAX team member.

The statement does not mention Kim Curtis, the instructor that flunked Dowd. She was also named in the lawsuit.

Duke beat UNC !

http://www.wsoctv.com/sports/13355431/detail.html

I watched the game on ESPNU. UNC was up early 6 to 1 and looked unstoppable, but Duke came back big. One of the Duke players scored something like 7 goals. Duke has some serious offense. I predict that Duke will beat Cornell, Johns Hopkins will beat Delaware. Johns Hopkins will beat Duke for the national championship with a score of 14 to 13.

Hey 1sokkermom,
I was going to start a separate “Congratulations Duke LAX” thread with this news!
