This is what I read on Duke Reddit thread
“Official!!! The school received close to 6750 applications. They expect admit rate, excluding questbridge applicants and recruited athletes, to be around 9.5%”

Not surprising. With other schools going Test required kids are flocking here. It’ll definitely be harder for TO kids this cycle. Duke like to keep admitted class less than a third TO, and usually more than half the applicants are test optional. If you submitted tests odds will likely be around the same as last year.
It is very true, even TO on the building, the door for TO is much smaller than kid submit test. no one think a kid has 1560/35 above will try TO. but even TO has smaller door but it is still a door and still an chance and hope for many kids. win/win for both side.
Thank you! So this year it will be tougher.
Is 1510 a reasonalble score for the ED application?
SAT Scores are now taken into context both socioeconomically and within the high school for Duke this year (no rating). For example, my high school average is a 1190, and I come from a low income background so I did submit my 1510 and it will be evaluated within my context. However, it varies for every person. The rule of thumb is to always submit if 1500+
I read somewhere that Duke gives weightage to the essays. But since this year they won’t, because kids can use chatGPT for their essays. Is that true? I feel it is not justice to the kids who genuinely spend months in writing their essays.
Essays are still very important or else they wouldn’t have asked us to write them. What matters more is the content in the essays rather than the beauty of the writing style. Good move for Duke.
Yes. It has been reported before.
How important is it to include the video glimpse to the application?
My daughter did not do a video and was accepted ED last year.
Will getting a C in one subject in senior year impact ED application for DUKE?
That would be quite concerning. Are there extenuating circumstances? Your competition will not have this issue—academic excellence is the most important initial filter.
Has anyone else received a request for tax forms via IDOC? Does this mean anything?
Unlikely if it’s a semester grade. They won’t know when they decide. You’ll be in already.
They’ll have terms to meet for the rest of the year but a C won’t likely cause a change in decision.
If you do a CSS And it’s an IDOC school, they’ll want tax returns, brokerage statements, and more.
Yes, very much so. Unless the applicant is a recruited athlete, has an EC of national/international acclaim or has a family that has donated something substantial, this is a big problem. Remember, the odds are against any unhooked applicant, even with a 4.0 UW GPA.
In think for Duke ED, First Quarter Grades from Senior Year are required.
But what if you are on a semester, not quarter system ?
Most schools on the semester system still publish a first quarter grade report.
