My daughter’s school is on a semester system, but her college counseling department asked all her teachers to estimate her grade at the one quarter mark to submit.
Not my kid’s school.
But ok.
First quarter grades are required by Duke and they were supposed to be submitted by November 20. If the school doesn’t do first quarter grades an unofficial progress report was required. I would guess a C is definitely alarming even more so if your kid didn’t have close to a 4.0 before.
They reject 90%+ of the valedictorians who apply, so this would be quite alarming…
Not true, the national date for reports was the 25th but there were extensions past that for some regions/interviewers who got late assignments. Duke tries to interview all who apply ED but it does NOT negatively affect the application if no interviewer is matched to the applicant. For RD the admissions committee only assigns interviews for those whom they need more information. Duke doesn’t share with interviewers how they make that determination. All interviewers are required to submit an evaluation/writeup for every applicant they interview.
The high school counselor is required to submit interim grades or in-progress grades for allED applicants, however each high school determines to do it
Good to know.
Thank you. Do you happen to know when they are required to submit interim grades by?
I believe it was November 20th. It shows up on the portal.
Thank you. Our counselor hasnt submitted these yet. Would anyone here happen to know the implication of these not being submitted?
I don’t know the implication, but our school did not receive a request directly from Duke. My daughter saw it on the portal and then notified her college counselor. I’d make sure they (college counselor) know about the request and then call admissions to see what to do next.
are we predicting the 12th as the day decisions release?
I don’t know but I really hope so - if it is the 12th and D gets in, she could skip the 12/14 ACT!
That’s what I’m thinking. Questbridge came out today and 113 matched to Duke, 16 more than last year. It’s going to be even harder this year in a 800 ED class.
How do you find out that information?
A student who matched with Duke posted their letter on Reddit disclosing how many QB students Duke took this year.
Thanks. I couldn’t find a list anywhere.
does more people matching to QB mean less ED acceptances? does duke not increase the size of its freshman class
They didn’t last year when there was over a 30% increase in Applications, so we have to assume 800-850 ED
hm thats interesting I wonder if it has to do with test optional?
