Dupont

Does anyone know when the central air is turned on or off in Dupont?

Do students who reside in Dupont feel they are removed from the campus? Is there a good social life in that Dorm area or do the students have to go to the heart of the campus to find activities?

Thanks!

Air is turned on and off based a several days of the temp being at a certain level. I can't remember the exact temp. My son currently lives there and has not had any problems, temp or otherwise. He is very close to his hall mates and very involved on campus. I do not think he feels isolated in anyway from the rest of the campus. It's a big dorm with a lot of hall activities as far as I can see.

Yeah, there are lots of dorms on that side of campus so there is always stuff going on. I've never heard of any complaints with the AC.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

Air Conditioning
Room rates are not based on the presence of air-conditioning. To help maintain low utility costs, all central air-conditioning in the residences will be turned off on or about October 15th of each year. The following guidelines will be used to determine the exact date of shut-down: three consecutive days of daily temperatures no higher than 68 degrees and/or nighttime temperatures no higher than 50 degrees and a downward or stable trend forecast for seven days. All central air conditioning will be turned off by November 1st regardless of weather. Air conditioning will be turned on in the spring on or about April 15th. The following guidelines will be used to determine the exact date of start-up: three consecutive days of daily high temperatures higher than 70 degrees and/or nighttime temperatures no lower than 60 degrees. All air conditioning will be turned on no later than April 20th regardless of weather.

Dupont is close to lots of stuff. The Caf, the IM sports fields, Yates, and Botetourt (and the frats).

W&M is a pretty small campus... you can walk across it in 10-15 minutes. =)
