Does anyone know the different tiers of scholarships? I’m curious to see where I fit in to it. Thanks! (:

I read somewhere that decisions will be released today. Does anyone know if this is true?

decisions are out!

Accepted!

It’s stunning to me seeing the stellar statistics of so many of the applicants here who received 0 in merit aid. My older child went to another Catholic DI school in the northeast where child was below the school’s average GPA but somewhat above their average SAT score, and they offered a significant amount of merit aid, and when I asked them if they could increase it in light of a competing school’s offer, they did. PC’s refusal to so much as entertain appeals on merit aid is disappointing. But to add insult to injury, this year they were having trouble filling seats, and the Boston Globe ran an article featuring a student who had initially been waitlisted, but in an effort to meet enrollment goals, PC offered her close to a 50% price reduction (it wasn’t clear if this was merit or need based). Still, appears PC was throwing money at people who weren’t even admitted while those admitted earlier, like my child and those mentioned in this thread, were offered nothing. To say I feel taken advantage of is putting it mildly. My family will continue to contribute to our other alma maters, but PC won’t see an additional dime after my child graduates.

So others who may read this thread are not mislead…

No student admitted off the waiting list received merit-based scholarship. Students admitted off the waiting list were given the financial aid package they would have initially received if they were admitted earlier in the cycle. These are not price reductions, but aid based off a student’s financial situation.

We did offer a later round of merit-based scholarships when we realized that this was becoming an even greater part of our admitted student’s decision-making as COVID-19 evolved. These additional scholarships were awarded based off academic parameters and given to students who qualified whether they had already enrolled or not. In fact, we ended up with more students who were already enrolled and then got a scholarship than we did students who had not yet decided and then received the new scholarship offer.

Lastly, the OP is correct that we do not adjust merit offers or entertain appeals based off what other institutions offer. We use our resources in the way that we think is best. When it comes to merit, it is purely academic criteria and there isn’t subjectivity.
