was wondering if anyone knows the maximum merit award? besides national merit? or the maximum they’ve heard?
also am i eligible for other scholarships (like the dean’s scholarship?)? and if i get national merit will i be able to “stack” that on top of what i have?
thanks!!!

Denied EA. The letter wasn’t even nice.
Bad grades Freshman year, but amazing improvement- I wrote an additional essay on the app explaining it.
Not including 9th grade, 4.3 GPA W- and coming from one of the top/most difficult high schools in MA.
Lots of Honors and AP
1250 SAT (bad SAT taker)
Legitimately amazing Extracurriculars
School student rep for town govt
Company Co-Founder
Paid assistant job at real estate firm

Great Rec Letters
Parent went there- I was a legacy.
Maybe getting was less likely, but was hoping for deferral at least.
I have been deferred at 1 other school and denied everywhere else so far.

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Northeastern likes high test scores cause it makes their ranking look good.
What would you have done differently?: nothing really
Where else did you apply? WPI, UDub, MIT, UIdaho, ASU, college im doing dual enrollment at. I was accepted to all, but MIT where I was defferred and UDub where I haven’t heard back yet.
Other Factors:
General Comments & Advice: Good luck to everyone! I will probably not be going to Northeastern as they are not my top choice but I hope everyone who does has a great experience!
Accepted! 3.8 weighted GPA and 28 ACT. Strong recommendation letters and extracurriculars
From the NEU website - Students who are admitted to Northeastern and are recognized as National Merit Finalists* or National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars** will receive up to a $30,000 merit-based award, and may also be eligible for financial aid.
Merit scholarships cannot be stacked. - the National Merit will replace any other scholarship awarded with your acceptance. Note is says up to $30,000 - have seen a few last year who didn’t get the full amount.
Where do you see if you received a scholarship?
thank you!!
@kiddie
