General Comments:
Definitely a top choice for me, just wish it wasn’t so expensive :frowning:

Does Northeastern send any hard copies or a package? If yes, so they send it to students with an international mailing address.

I was deferred from CA, got into Tulane EA though, but wondering if anyone was rejected at all this round?

Hey guys, so I know a lot of you are feeling discouraged from the admission decisions, but let me put things into prospective for you:

  1. My guidance counselor told me that NU recieved 20% more EA applications than last year - the biggest jump in NU history. Therefore the applicant pool was much much stronger, and thats why so many high stat applicants were deffered.

  2. EDII really did have an effect on applications this year. The difference between EDII and EA is that EDII is binding, so they know tha these students will accept their offers rather than EA students who will compare it to their other college decisions. And that’s totally fair on their part. They don’t want to give away spaces/money if they aren’t sure the student will even attend.

  3. Deferral isn’t a no! Please don’t look at it that way. It really is 50/50 with an acceptance or denial in March, but they know that you applied EA and that you’re interested! If they knew they didn’t want you to attend Northeastern, they would have denied you admission yesterday. You stood out enough that they want to take a look at you again, just in comparrison to all the other RD applicants. Be proud of that.

  4. For all of those who got accepted, congrats!

  5. For those who got denied, I’m so sorry. Know that this was the hardest applicant pool yet, and that you’re destined for better things. Don’t let this devalue any of your grades and accomplishments. You got this.

@WilliamNYC - yes it is! I think what will be happening more and more is that kids will accept a school on May 1st and make the deposit and then some of their more “top” schools will come to them in mid and late May after other kids have turned them down and will look to these kids to change their mind. Thus dragging out the college decision process into the summer…its happened to several friends and my nieces. Some switched, some stayed. Most heard by the end of May with that type of offer. Ugh

I read on last year’s admissions thread that depending on your ranking within the admitted class you may hear back sooner than April 1. Is there any truth to this?

I got my admissions decision yesterday night and I was admitted into the Honors Program. I’m so happy!!!

I got 15,000 per year.
I got a 29 on the ACT.
unweighted GPA of 5.2
no need based aid yet though.

Deferred, w 4.3, sat 1530, 12 APs

@cd2030 Merit aid does not stack. If you are NMF that would replace the honors scholarship.

Yes @Momtofourkids, the wait list will be used more frequently on one hand to fill empty seats and on the other hand there’s an increased risk for schools to oversubscribe. With so many students applying to 20+ schools it gets increasingly difficult to gage how many students to accept in order to fill a class. A particular school might be unusually popular one year and boom, oversubscribed!
The US could adopt a system such as in the UK where each student can apply to a maximum of 5 schools.

Accepted!!! GPA:3.99 ACT super scored:33, 7 AP classes, major: undecided. Dean’s scholorship

So many result posts gave us a pretty good idea of the test score sweet spot Northeastern seemed to have gone after for EA (ACT 32-34?).
Does anyone know from prior years if Northeastern keeps a similar target range for RD? Or does the range go up or down? Or is it not that simple? Lol.
Also: anyone know what percentage of spots are handed out during EA round vs. RD?

General Comments & Advice: I’m not letting this get to me but I can’t stress enough the importance of applying to safety schools. This was my first response and it hit me kinda hard but it’s okay because it all happens for a reason and in a couple months everything will be out

Accepted!!
ACT 33 but ACT only sent them my 32
GPA uw/w: 4.0/4.33
State: MO
Lots of extra curriculars and a unique essay

@WilliamNYC Northeastern has stated that the EA and RD acceptance rates are about the same. Last year it was 27%. Given that NU was overenrolled both in Boston and NU In my guess is that it will be lower this year and more students will be waitlisted RD.

NOTHING UGHHHH

@siw0300 honestly I’m not sure; I had a 1530 and 99.4 UW gpa and was deferred. Good luck.
