EA Class of 2022

no! northeastern was my first choice

congratulations! Was the 48k/year?

Great point, WilliamNYC.

@tganns What has your daughter’s experience been so far at Northeastern? What state is she from? (Would love to know how she made the transition - this is the biggest school my daughter is applying to, and I’m a little worried she might fall through the cracks in a big-city campus).

@ParentPK

For me, it was really down to a few main things: co-op (as mentioned), academics specific to major, flexibility, and Boston. The CS program here is incredible (my major), and there are a lot of programs with a great reputation here. Other examples are engineering, business, pharmacy, PT, and physical sciences.

I saw your post on another thread re comparing schools, feel free to message me!

My daughter has adjusted better than I could have imagined. We are from a small rural town in upstate NY and her hs graduating class was about 100 kids. She had a small friend group and tended to be on the quiet studious side so I was worried. I feel like the environment at northeastern has made her blossom. She has made a great group of friends in the honors dorm. She goes to all sorts of events including the Boston pops the College has exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I have another daughter going to a small liberal arts school and there is such a difference Boston really has something to do for everyone and the College takes advantage of that !

@tganns Thanks for your note - my daughter is from a small rural high school (under 100 seniors). No honors invite at NU, so I guess I would hope – if she chooses to go – she’d, too, make friends in whatever dorm she ends up in!

Thanks a lot, @PengsPhils

I will message you once we get closer to hearing remaining decisions and looking forward to hearing your views.
Thanks again.

I got accepted EA with 3.73 W and 1290 SAT. I had loads of ECs and leadership and a very strong essay. those must have been the reasons i got in because my stats are low af

Message me anytime. I’d be happy to share whatever perspective I have. I know how stressful the whole process can be and you need to trust they will end up where they are meant to be.

Hey everyone! I was deferred with a 3.7 W GPA and a 26 ACT!
Major: Cell and Molecular Bio
6 AP classes and lots of honors
Won 2nd place in Science Olympiad for Microbiology- never took any classes, I taught MicroBio myself
First Generation Student
My essay was about how my Type 1 Diabetes and art influenced my life
EC’s: Health/Diabetes talks during school, Science Olympiad

I’m honestly surprised since I should’ve been rejected with these stats :))

I was accepted EA to honors!
Env Eng, 35 ACT, 770 mAth 2, 4.6 GPA/4.0 UW.
Congrats to everyone who got in and got deferred to RD! :slight_smile:

Solid profile and also deferred- 1460 SAT, 4.6 weighted GPA, 4.0 unweighted, dual enrollment at BU and community college, 5 AP classes, very involved- captain of soccer team,student government, class officer, domestic violence task force, volunteer, and work part-time. But a male applying to engineering from Massachusetts…hoping for some luck in RD.

My son deferred too —- 1460 3.91 top 3% -Engineering
Seemed to be extremely competitive this year but he’s very happy he has Pitt Purdue Clemson Fordham so far

@TomSrOfBoston : any advice on how to strengthen my application: I am a male from a small school in MA applying to the college of engineering, currently valedictorian, very involved- Capt. of Varsity soccer, NHS., class treasurer, student council, domestic violence task force, part-time job, and volunteer in many events, dual enrolled at BU last semester for a physics class and at local community college for english course, 4 AP’s ( my school only offers 3 so I took one online) SAT 1460. Unfortunately, I need financial aid. I was inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society since my EA application and received the John and Abigail Adams scholarship; I can let them know that. I applied ED to an Ivy and diid not get in. Northeastern is now my top choice. Thoughts?

deferred… northeastern is my #1.
1390 SAT (710 math 680 reading)
4.96 GPA top 3% of class
treasurer of students helping honduras, historian of national honor society, co-president of school’s volunteering club, volunteered 2x in honduras to build schools, varsity cross country and track.

hoping for the best in RD. northeastern is my dream school, but i have high financial need.

@ManUnited717 Sent you a PM.

@RelocatedYankee, could you explain what you mean by being a Northeastern, rather than Boston College, kind of family for us non-Bostonians?

Decision: Accepted!
