EA Decisions - Class of 2024

We heard today! EA for Biology!!

Still waiting here too, EA application complete November 9th. Getting very anxious!

Son applied EA on 11/15 and got accepted into the Biochemistry program earlier this week (we got a package via regular mail on 1/6, and then he checked his email and noticed he got an application status change notification a few days prior to that). IC isn’t among his top choices, but I’d be more than happy if he wound up going there.

There was no information re: scholarships or Honors College, which I would expect him to be a prime candidate for both.

My son got in EA into Biochemistry as well but no info regarding scholarship either?! I am assuming that he is not going to be offered Merit?? I am surprised because he is way above their typical student regarding stats: 34 ACT, 4.0 unweighted GPA, lot’s of EC’s…I tried to figure out from the website whether he might hear later but it doesn’t look like it. 3 years ago my other son applied, got in early and was offered 17,000.00/year merit and with much lower test scores and GPA. Has it changed?? Does anyone know if merit offer is separate from acceptance letter???

I called and they said merit offer will come with financial aid package by 2/15. A new experience for us. My daughter received her merit offers with her acceptances back when she applied to college three years ago. I am also fairly certain your student needs to specifically apply to their scholar’s program. There is a link on the right of the student portal.

Thanks!!!

I was coming here to ask about merit also! It’s the only school he hasn’t gotten that information from and I was wondering one of two things…

  1. does it mean he isn’t getting merit? (which would surprise me since his sister got a nice package 2 years ago and he is a comparable or slightly stronger candidate. Plus he has gotten merit from other comparable and stronger colleges) OR

  2. We won’t qualify for need based financial aid, but have they changed and do they require a CSS/Fafsa to be considered for even for merit only? The website is a little ambiguous and my son emailed to ask, but the response was a link to the website that on closer reading implies he should have submitted a CSS? (which we hadn’t done)

That’s why I was wondering if anyone else had heard and if anyone knows the answer to question number 2?

Thanks

I actually called the office and the kid who answered said CSS etc isn’t required for merit only, but I’m not sure I explained myself clearly.

The comment that merit is coming with financial aid makes me wonder if CSS is required.

Really strange that no emails indicated when the information would become available since there is such a delay.

We received our aid package this afternoon in the mail. We knew we likely wouldn’t receive need-based aid but were hoping for at least a bit since we have another child in school and other private colleges that are more selective have given our son merit-based aid and need-based grants. As we expected they gave him merit money but no other aid except an unsubsidized Stafford loan. Hoping he gets a spot in the leadership scholar program which offers an additional scholarship otherwise it’s going to be too pricey.
