I am having trouble confirming if the early action deadline of October 15th to apply for the college of engineering at TAMU is a hard deadline or not? (I heard this from someone.)
Does this mean that for COE you cannot apply at all between October 16th - Dec. 1st like you can for other colleges?
I just saw this on the admissions website:
"Applicants who apply on the Early Action Deadline will not be able to complete their admission file for several days. On average, it takes 3-5 business days from the time your application is successfully submitted to communicate information needed to link and submit your SRAR. Please apply early to allow time to complete your file by the deadline. "
Given that I have not hit the submit button yet, is it already too late to even make the deadline?
The reason for the delay is that I am waiting for my latest SAT score to come back.
Is it better to rush the ED with the SAT score that I have or wait until the other results come back which I anticipate being much better than the one I have now.
Thank you.
So does this actually mean that the college of engineering applications at TAMU are due by October 15 and the December 1st deadline that is displayed on the admissions web site for all “general” admissions (and other majors) is not applicable here at all.
TAMU is rolling admissions and will fill most of the engineering spots with the priority deadline apps. Many students submitted their app as soon as it opened on Aug 1 and have already been admitted. Read this thread here: Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread
I know he/we are very much behind the curve on the application.
At first, we were not going to submit the application to the COE at all since we were so late on getting the SAT test done among other things. Our roundabout approach to try and get into A&M has always been to apply to a community college sponsored academy program – the HCC/Chevron/TAMU engineering academy to be exact. (HCC = Houston Community College… we live in Houston, which does not open until November 1st.
We think that is a really good fit for him!
My son just decided yesterday that since the common app application is completed, that he additionally wanted to submit directly to COE by the October deadline just to see what might happen.
I wasn’t sure that this was a good idea given what I found and posted in my OP.
still wondering if it makes sense to apply for both or if it not a good idea.
not sure how it works, but I worry a decline from a direct application will void any chances of the community college/ TAMU partnership application.
