@Coun2316 He is just hoping. I’m guessing it will stay at JMac.
@sunnyschool The exterior of the residence hall is pretty much complete, and you can see it on DU’s facilities page. From what i have read the new student union/dinning center will NOT be completed until the start of Q2 in 2021, so a year from now.
An email with admission decision came today, so we checked the portal again and a new letter with financial details was added today! This showed an additional DU grant and a $5K scholarship in addition to the Chancellors we knew about from the original letter. Just FYI that your financial aid letter may be up so you can check portals if you didn’t get the email or see it before.
@momof3co I got my letter and it had no additional aid. With a price of around $39000 after the chancellor scholarship, do you know of any additional ways to get DU funding?
@EarlyApps It is so much $, right? I saw on the financial page: “There are also select departmental scholarships available for incoming first-year students. In this instance, students will be invited by the specific department to apply if they are eligible, and they will be notified if they are awarded a scholarship.”
But I’m not sure when you might be invited or this process takes place?
So can any of you comment on getting merit as a test optional applicant? It looks like some have gotten in AND gotten merit without submitting ACT or SAT? Thanks for any insight as our family will have an applicant next year.
@pacnwfromne Daughter was accepted as test optional, CS major with Dean’s Scholarship ($22k merit + $3k r/b).
Although her SAT was within UD’s average range, we honestly felt her application was stronger without it.
Her ECs were many music, computer science, and cross country competitions at all levels. Volunteer activities: AP ambassador, food bank and blood drives.
HS courses include 12 APs and 3 honors. wgpa:4.3/uwgpa: 3.87
Still nothing in the mail. My son that was accepted 3 years ago received postal mail, but maybe the process has changed? Or maybe there is more that could change with aid and they will send out postal mail when it’s complete??
Just an update that my D received a packet today from DU. She isn’t home to open it, but it’s clearly a Welcome package with “Congratulations” on the envelope. We are in-state so likely got this the first day of deliveries.
Good to hear - we are down to just a couple of top choices (still waiting to hear from three RD schools) but my gut says it’s going to be DU. It would be nice to have something on paper to save.
