Early Action!

We encountered this with another university recently. They said decisions were going out on a date that turned out to be a Saturday, in the evening. Everyone held breath, hoping for the day before. Decisions went at 5pm on the nose-on Saturday. And the school is not far from UNC-CH so…anything is possible.

I suppose it’s possible. It’s not like it’s difficult to send them out. They’ve likely already assigned each decision to a profile, it’s just clicking a button to make them visible at this point.

Regardless of whether its tomorrow or Wednesday or any other day for that matter; the best hint will be when they update the blog with instructions on how to view the decisions. I don’t think we should get too excited until we get that blog post.

Hey everyone! Not to be random or anything but I feel like I ruined my chances of getting into UNC with my essay. So for the supplement I chose the message in a bottle one and it said 500 words is ideal. However, I tried to be different and I wrote a poem using Coldplay song titles (I really like coldplay) and it was only 250 words. Now that I think about it, I feel like I shot myself in the foot. What do you guys think, did I ruin my chances because I didn’t follow the requirements? I’m actually really concerned!

twin,
I think your essay sounds unique, and is you. Who else should you be?? Many times succinct is better. Don’t fret, it’s all settled, and no matter what happens, we will all find our ways.

My common app essay was about being short and picked on and how I used the gym and academics to overcome self-esteem issues.

Nothing outstanding, but it works.

Twin, I kind of feel the same way! My UNC supplement was somewhat off topic and very… very unique! But I think a good essay is well written, and conveys a message. No matter how many words you wrote, I believe that you if you told a story about yourself in positive light, then you’ll b fine!

So I too checked out the portal thing under self service>>admission decision. I got the “ADMACCEPT” in the URL. However, if you switch it to “ADMDENY” (and keep the rest of the URL the same) it leads you to the same blank portal page. Thought it was interesting, but I dont know if it means anything?

Interesting, yes. Important, probably not. You can put anything into the URL and it brings you to the same blank page. I just banged on my keyboard and it still came up! I wish there was some way that we could just find out, but then, of course, we would be the infamous class at UNC that hacked the portal.

I asked one of my friends who is applying regular decision if she could search classes and she said she couldn’t. Meaning they did change it. Can anyone currently not search classes?

Nah, I can still search. Probably hasn’t validated her Connect Carolina account yet.

So, what do you all like about UNC so much?

The campus, the atmosphere, the sports teams, the academics

everything. the athletics (football especially), the campus, and the academics, and proximity to home

What is the acceptance rate in state for early applicants? Something like 60-70%, right?

It’s far lower than that. The acceptance rate for the school in general is lower than 35%.

But a bulk percentage of the acceptances come from early action (close to half) where a bulk of the applications come regular (I think 70%ish).

41% of EA and 31% of RD

Of that 41% accepted does anyone know what the instate acceptance rate for EA is
