Early Action!

Probably around 5… that’s what time UVA decisons came out EA…

It’s not clear from the articles when it would go into effect. It was discussed and supported by several Board of Governors members in their Jan meeting and is again on the agenda for the Feb meeting. There are two new articles in the DTH today … Google and read them. I’d guess it would have no effect on EA decisions, but, perhaps for deferred or RD… It is a really hot topic for all the schools in the UNC system. NC A&T exceeded the cap for 2012 (doubled the percentage of OOS in 2012!)

@swimmerdude Nice! Our scores are roughly the same if you convert ACT to SAT. Biomathematics sounds hard, yet rewarding. Hopefully we’ll be hearing some good news.

I’m OOS… :(

@DreamsAreReal Yes, I’m doing it for Pre-med! Good luck :)

TONIGHT?! FINALLY. I’ve never been more prepared for a rejection in my life. The way I feel right now - it’s like, I KNOW I’m gonna get rejected, but even once I get that rejection, I’m still gonna be upset, you know? Sorry for the rambling haha, I’m just so nervous! It’s been fun worrying with you all LOL. So is it gonna be 4pm or 5pm? Good luck everybody!!!

While you wait check out the UNC First Year Seminar Program! Look and see what FYS interests you.

[First Year Seminars](http://fys.unc.edu/)

The First Year Seminar program at UNC-Chapel Hill builds and sustains an impressive array of seminar-format courses that allow students to work closely with instructors on intriguing topics.

FYS = First Year Seminars, Find Your Strength, For Your Success!

Does an average ACT score mean absolutely no chance of getting in OOS?
I got a 28, but my GPA, extracurriculars, essays, teacher recs, volunteering, leadership stuff is all really great.
Any shot?

yeah i have an average SAT (2080), great ecs and great gpa
im hoping they like that im bilingual (I speak spanish and i’m mexican/peruvian)
it could go either way
im so nervous!!! I wish i was in state

That is a very low ACT score for OOS … unless you have some sort of hook

International (Honduras, Central America)
SAT: 2180 (740 M, 690 CR, 750 W)
GPA: (UW) 94.6/100
Course Rigor: Most difficult (5 AP’s out of possible 5, including AP Calculus)
Rank: School does not rank
EC’s: Student Council President and many other leadership positions and volunteer work
Major: Political Science (possible transfer to Business)

@termah420 haha we are on the same boat at least I got accepted to Elon. What’s your safety school?

What about a33 ACT score OOS IB student with good ec’s and recs and top 6% of class??

You guys talk about NCSU like its a bad place! Everyone will get in where they are meant to be  NCSU and UNC are both great schools. Can’t wait to hear back and I am excited for all of you!

While we’re waiting, would you mind chancing me?

Much better ACT score:)

UNC does look holistically at each applicant, but, they get so many great OOS applicants with so few slots … it’s really gotten tough with the common app, tough economy, etc.

Can we not turn this into a chance thread? We’ll all find out soon enough haha

UNC’s offices are still open.

UNC is need blind right? so applying for FA wouldnt affect my chance?
