Earthquake in the northern California!

Just had an earthquake here in the middle of night. Anybody here woke up like me because of this earthquake?

Luckily, it seems everything is fine. But this was the first one after I had been here. Scary!

I have friends in Napa. They’ve OK, but have a lot of damage. No electricity.

It’s a big one - mag 6.0, between Napa & Vallejo – see: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc72282711#summary

I’m not seeing any news yet but I’m thinking there has got to be significant damage around the epicenter. I’m about 50 miles away, so no damage at my location, but it went on a lot longer than most.

Google 'ca earthquake’gives direct results, cool

I didn’t feel too far. Nor cal, Bay Area toward napa 6.0

Napa friends say everything has been shaken off their shelves/cabinets and even out of the refrigerator and broken.

I am in the south bay area. It was reported the epiccenter is near Napa California.

"A shallow magnitude 6.1 earthquake was reported Sunday morning three miles from American Canyon, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:20 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was six miles from Napa, eight miles from Sonoma and 51 miles from Sacramento."

It shook mostly horizontally this time.

It’s on the Weather Channel. I hope all are OK.

The epicenter coordinates: 38.21400,-122.3190

Hope all is OK with you guys in Northern CA! So far, not much being reported in the news, but should be developing. I have one kid who just left San Francisco yesterday. The other, who normally lives in NYC arrived this week in San Francisco for two months and this likely is her first quake.

I’m awake early taking ds2 to airport and saw the news. My Napa friend has posted on FB so I know he’s OK. Waiting to hear about damage.

He said pictures and glasses fell off shelves. A slow roller.

Havent heard from my s’s yet. Hope all is ok everyone.

Horizontal is not as bad vertical (up and down).

I hope no one was seriously hurt or worse.

I wonder how many wine barrels/bottles are broken.

<a href=“Earthquake Sparks Damaging Fires, Crumbles Historic Downtown Napa Buildings - CBS San Francisco”>http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/08/24/downtown-napas-historic-buildings-badly-damaged-by-overnight-earthquake-fire-american-canyon-downtown/

I live in the east bay and the earthquake was in the north bay. Woke us up! Long rolling sensation which caused our chandelier to swing quite a bit. Other than that, no damage here.

Roads are damaged, fires are burning, 100K without power, water lines busted, no reported injuries, yet.

I wonder how many grapes were prematurely shaken off. This could be devastating for this year’s season. Crossing my fingers for the best…

Can anyone who lives in the middle of San Francisco or near it tell me the status there? Thank you.

We have friends who live in Napa. I’m hoping they send out something to their whole address book (when they get somewhere with power…both work in the hospital there) to let us know what’s up. I’m hoping for the best for them. They have a relatively new, one story home.
