Easter Food or Activities or Whines

Joy of Cooking defines Eternity = Two People and a Ham. Since it was just two of us this year (already saw local kid Friday night and Saturday with visiting family, college hunting)…. we opted for scallops dinner. Used a recipe from our beloved “Frugal Gourmet cooks with Wine” cookbook -we used to watch his show on Saturday mornings.

Brunch looks great, but LOVE your wainscoting, wall color, and casement windows.

Thank you! The dining and living room is what sold us on this old house! We didn’t do a thing in those two spaces other than moving in our stuff.

We don’t celebrate Easter, other than baskets for the kids and easter eggs painting. My family isn’t religious, but for some reason we do celebrate Christmas.

This was not for Easter but rather for a springy/girly brunch I hosted Saturday week ago. I thought it was Easter-y enough to share here.

I may implement an annual, “Boozy Bunny Brunch,” for this friend group. Goody bags had Easter candy in them.

My granddaughter absolutely loved doing eggs this way and I did not miss the dye.

Here is H yesterday at my Mom’s. I took this one because of the blow up peep sitting next to him:joy:

Each of my kids sent me a picture of them dressed nicely in front of some kind of plant (they know that Easter Sunday was historically when i’d attempt to take some “spring” photos for the family photo calendar.) They both sent very nice pictures. And husband and I looked really good, so I had my niece take a picture of us at dinner. Then, for giggles, I asked Google Gemini (an AI tool, supposedly the best at photo things) to put us all together in front of a spring background.

Friends, I am now mad at AI. My kids look great. No change at all. For some reason that I cannot discern, the AI made my husband and I look So Much Older. Like it actively put extra lines on my face. Why Ai? What did I do to you? It also, in shifting my position, made it so my hand was visible and it gave me a weird Man Hand, and a lovely apple watch. I don’t mind the watch, but no wrinkles and no man-hand.

At least we all got a good laugh out of it.

We had no kids home, and we did not buy or eat any candy. A little sad we didn’t have any kids, but happy we didn’t cave and buy/eat candy. I did check out the See’s candy website, because they used to have great sales to get rid of some of their Easter stuff, but they were sold out before Easter.

I bought 4 chocolate bunnies and some Cadbury eggs for the adults. Never ate any and then left them all at D and SIL’s house. They are not big candy eaters so I’m sure that the next time I go there I will be able to eat some. I even know where in the kitchen they store leftover candy.

When I went to the grocery store yesterday they had Easter candy for $0.98. I bought 4 bags of the small Reese’s. I brought 2 to work and gave 1 to D2 so there is only 1 bag left at home!

I was craving Cadbury eggs (not the crème ones) for a few weeks before Easter. I looked at a couple of stores that I happened to be at but either didn’t find them or was :open_mouth: at the prices and refused to buy them.

I even sent H a few text messages when he was doing weekly trips to CVS. He’s a terrible text message reader and my texts netted me ZERO Cadbury eggs from him!

I finally found a good sized bag on Good Friday which I needed for an Easter dessert. I only got to have a few eggs for myself - so addicting. And I guess good that I couldn’t find them earlier! Otherwise, candy doesn’t really do it for me.

I was craving a dark chocolate coconut egg on Easter. On our way home from lunch with S and his gf (met half way between us at a restaurant, about 1.25 hour drive each way) we stopped at a grocery store that usually marks down candy on Easter. No dark chocolate coconut so I bought a white chocolate Reese’s egg. It was marked down to 50 cents but accidentally rang up at the original price of $1.50. I had them correct it but pointed out to H that even if I wasn’t buying candy this year I wouldn’t have bought candy this year. Not long ago that Reese’s egg would have regularly been 50 cents.
