<p>A while ago I talked with an MIT admissions officer, and I asked offhand, “When I’m talking about math/science things, should I abbreviate or not?” He said, smirking a bit, “Don’t worry, we know what they all are. You might want to spell it out for other colleges though.”</p>
<p>So, just out of curiosity (I’m pretty sure the high ranked posters on the MIT forum would recognize almost all of these) have you heard of these, and how would you write them? In decreasing order of well-known-ness:</p>
