Echols Scholar- No required classes

I was accepted as an Echols scholar, and I am very honored.

I have a question about this honors program for current students. How big of a factor was your acceptance as an Echolars scholars/having no required classes in choosing UVA for undergrad?

Obviously having no required classes is an advantage, but important do you think it is? I appreciate any insight.

(I’m currently trying to decide between Princeton and UVA; both schools are equally strong in their academics especially since I would be in the Echols program at UVA.)

It’s not having no required classes in itself; it’s what you would do with that freedom (double major? etc). Can Princeton offer you the same academic opportunities with required classes? Do you like being up North better? There are a lot of things you will take into your decision.
