EC'S for UCSC?

Hi there!

I’m currently the Freaking Out About Not Getting Into The College Of My Dreams Syndrome

I volunteer at the hospital (currently 110 hours): Korean Club 2 sem: Book Club President 2 Sem:Library Volunteer (will be around 50 hrs )

I applied to American Heart Association

dude

I’m freaking out because I want to get into ucsc which is my dream school right and I think I don;t have enough ec’s. and my grades aren’t that fancy too. My freshman grades were good but my Junior and soph aren’t so good. My senior schedule is amazing (4ap’s and I love every one of them k?). Mmy junior schedule I took Nanotechnology for science so I couldn’t take ap physics (taking it now) and 1 AP (apush).

I’f I do well in my senior schedule with the hard classes will UCSC see me as an aspiring student with an ambition and not a failure who took bad classes?

will 3.25 gpa be okay? HELP ME OK! PLEASEEHBDFHSGE

oh and I’m getting a part time job

I’ll address two of your questions. UCSC has an average GPA of 3.7(weighted). Your grades declining after frosh will hurt.

well, my grades did take a huge leap downward after frosh, but they increased significantly after Junior and my classes got harder. won’t they look for a student “who challenges herself and shows change?”

You need to familiarize yourself with the way that the UCs calculate GPA. Only a-g classes from grades 10 and 11 will be calculated into your UC GPA. This means neither your freshman nor senior year grades are counted (though you can be rescinded if senior year slips too far). Given that the average GPA is well above yours (which is probably lower than 3.2, since you said freshman year was better than the following two years), make sure you have some safeties.
