ECU Honors College and EC Scholars Class of 2024

I just got home to check my honors acceptance trifold and it only indicated I was a centennial fellow. Really hoping something else comes in the mail for EC Scholar.

@aksingh Centennial Fellow is still amazing! I believe everyone is only mailed one letter. There was no separate letter for my D20. Her EC Scholar Finalist status was in her honors college invite.

Just checked Informed Delivery, and a white envelope from ECU is showing coming in today. I think it must be a rejection because the posts I see on social media of students who were accepted were holding a tri-fold letter. This looks like a standard size envelope…oh well, what is meant to be will be!

@millong we also have Informed Delivery arriving from ECU Honors College today. I also think it is a rejection because there is one for each of my twins. Only one of my twins did the HC application. LOL!

Anyone who got an acceptance: Was it in a white envelope or just the colorful tri fold that I’m seeing on social media?

White envelope, invitation sized with script printing of their name (looks very impressive). The trifold is within.

Thanks MBNC1755. Sounds like my son’s is definitely a rejection then because his name and address are just printed a generic font, and it looks like a business size envelope. Thanks for the info!

Nothing here yet, I assume son was rejected. We were never in the running for scholars or anything, maybe just regular HC, there are different levels now of HC with different scholarships I believe.

Does anyone know if there is a wait list, or if it just just accepted or denied? I am still waiting for me letter.

No letter again today, getting nervous. Has anyone receive a letter of rejection yet?

Well the verdict is in…waitlisted for ECU Honors College. The letter said they were unable to accept him at this time, but he was on the waitlist. Congrats to all those accepted! But if you’re not taking the spot, please let ECU know so wait listed kids can move on up! LOL!!

Yep - twin that applied for Honors got waitlisted and twin that did NOT apply for Honors got rejected.

Waitlisted, son has forgotten about this, I may not mention until he asks. Yes, I open my child’s mail, bad mom…

Congrats to those who are in. My DD15 went and loved the HC, the small community was perfect for her. The work load was extra but she thrives with that kind of thing. The class of kids in her group were amazing.

@ITBgirl - thanks for the positive review of the honors college! We are looking forward to visiting in a couple of weeks. My parents both went to ECU and would be thrilled to have their granddaughter attend. I’ll be honest, I know more about Chapel Hill than East Carolina. I think my daughter would thrive in a small community. I have looked at overall grad rates from ECU and they look low. I am hoping they are much higher for students in the honors college.

@twokids2go I understand completely. I am a UNC grad and when DD15 got in UNC everyone assumed she would go there. But ECU really won her over and made her feel special. She has never regretted her choice.

As far as the grad rates, I believe ECU lets some kids in who may not be ready for school. Personally I believe that kids should have the chance to prove themselves in college even if they weren’t rock stars in HS, but some people just aren’t ready.

Question as far as rates – does anyone know – when schools like NCSU and UNC have such a large admit of spring students – obviously they have kids leaving right? I wonder if spring admits off set that grad rate number? Just wondering.

@ITBgirl I open my daughters mail to…don’t feel bad:)

I got my letter and was put on waitlist. It says we likely won’t know until after April 15. Does anyone know if in last years people got off waitlist earlier? This was my first choice and I’m still holding on for hope.

Anyone else get the The Pirate Navigator Scholarship letter?

Correction it’s a Beacon Scholarship

@ITBgirl Congrats!
