ED Applicants: What Were Your Essay Topics?

I just wanted to see what everybody wrote their essays about. I’ll start:

I wrote my essay on my web development business. I wrote about how I developed an interest in computers when I was 5, and the events that led up to my creating a company. I talked about how I started a blog to help other people break into the field, and ended with how this has helped me develop as a person.

I wrote about the first time I found out Santa wasn’t real and how that and a subsequent event involving my younger cousin changed my outlook on childhood and the value of innocence.

wrote about my life…

I’m impressed. Not a lot of people can condense 17 years into 500 words.

i wrote about how I founded a Gay-Straight Alliance at my school and how I was happy to have been able to find something that I’m passionate about, connecting it to the fact that columbia was the first university to create a GSA in the country which showed me that it was the kind of place I’ve been looking for.

run-on sentence L0L

I wrote about hands.

I think that warrants somewhat of an explanation…

About drive and my life.

I wrote about my passion for film.

my role in church :D

I wrote about my year living in Switzerland when I was 12, and how it’s affected me more so than if it would have now because I was still “changing” as a person, and how I overcame the language barrier.

An episode of Candid Camera I watched and how it represents my life philosophy to perceive things i face in life in a better light.

knowledge and why it matters

I wrote about when my best friend was killed by gang violence and how it prompted me to start a community initiative aimed at combating gang violence by providing education and establishing brotherhood among the youth of my community.

Halfrican, that sounds great. I’d love to read that.
