ED vs EA admission

Hi
I’m a high school senior.
I am applying ED for either Drexel or University of SanFrancisco. My profile is 2.86 GPA, no AP’s, no honors, 1360 SAT, and 770 SAT math level 2. It’s a private boarding school. I hate New England because the winter makes me feel like I am living in dystopia. It makes me sick because it is dark af. So that means I cannot go to schools like in upstate NY.
I am trying to get 3.0 this term so the admission people won’t think I am a lazy af kid. I am positive I will get 3.0 but not 3.5. (You need to get every single work A to get an A in the class here.)
I prefer SanFrancisco than Philadelphia and I wonder if I have chance for ED or EA.
I heard EA is harder than ED for kids like me because it is non-binding. I don’t know.

U of San Francisco’s EA rate is much higher than the ED rate. I’m curious as to why you would choose to ED to Drexel in PA - There is winter/snow there too, so you might experience Seasonal Affective Disorder there too. Have you looked at many southern schools? What is your budget? What do you want to major in? Is there a story behind your GPA being low?

I struggled at Freshman year probably because I never been to private school. The Sophomore grades are solid because I got the grip. However the SAD started in Junior year which dropped a MOAB to my GPA. I got lot better this year because I started to take prescription meds. This high school is aware of the meds but it’s kept private by the law. (Well…that’s what they said) I don’t want to mention my SAD to colleges because it would affect my admission. I was thinking about Drexel because I know some people around that area. At least it’s in the downtown. Well I choose to stick to USF. The budget is okay. I am going for history major because I have some portfolios. I wish to go to USF for ED but I am going to search schools in South for RD just in case.

I think that you need to be very sure where you want to go if you are going to apply ED. I am thinking that you might want to get your applications in EA very soon now. Hopefully you have a few other schools on your list.

I am not an expert on disclosing things like SAD, so you might seek input for those more knowledgeable. However, I think it might help shed light on why you had the drop, but I do understand your hesitancy to disclose. I also have SAD and completely understand how that could have tanked your Junior year. Look at Austin College in Sherman, TX. They have a 100% EA listed on USNWR. I have a coworker who went to school there and he really loved it. I’m sure there are others who would have suggestions. You might post in college search & selection to get some good ideas. I don’t know much about SAD, but I would point out that USF is infamous for damp gray foggy skies. The athletic teams were originally nicknamed “The Gray Fog”, and the school spirit organization is still called the “Fog Squad”.

If you are thinking that a move to USF in California means that you will enjoy bright sunshine every day, you may be severely disappointed. Obviously it is further south than New England, so it won’t get as dark in the winter, but there will be a lot of cloudy gray, which some people also find depressing.

@Corbett - That is a very good point. OP should check weather patterns at all of the school’s being considered.
