El Camino College Teacher Recommendations

Camino means rascal in gujarati. Gujrati is an Indian language.

can I take 3 classes during the summer?11units…and should i retake Psychology 5 because I got a B and I want an A on my transcript?

you cannot retake a class unless you got a D or an F. And yes you can take 3 classes in the summer.

alright thanks guys So for first semester I’m taking ENG.1A honors, Anthropology 2, Art 1A, and sociology 107 and not gonna take Spanish cus I already have 2 yeas in high school. I just hope that not taking science/math my first semester won’t delay my transfer in two years.I’m thinking about being a physical therapist and want to attend a UC but none of them have a program that I am aware of. So does this leave me with cal states and private schools as the only option?

who did you get for anthropology 2?

I would also recommend mannen for anthro 2
she gives extra credit
a study guide for most of the test
all you really need to do is the reading.

if you ever take philosophy i really recommend Mrs.Thurson. she is the best teacher i ever had!! I’m thinking about double majoring in phil cause of her.

A bit off topic but I wanted to feedback on the classes I was intending to take.

I’m taking Calc2 and Stat for the spring, for anyone who’s taken either and/or both do yall recommend me against doing this or would it be fine?

CAlc2 = 5hrs a week and Stat=4hrs a week

a girl in my stats class is also taking calc and she finds it tough but doable. you just need to keep up with the nightly homework.

Thanks for the info redo.

Do you happen to know if she takes other classes? Is she full time? I’m taking Poly Sci with Antoine and just contemplating if it’ll be too hard. Schedule wise works out great for me but maybe it’s worth it for my GPA to change it.

Another thing, anyone has any feedback on Honors PS 10 with Antoine?

she is full time taking chem1c, calc, and stats. sometimes i see her in a wild eyed frenzy (like midterm days) but usually shes not thattt stressed out. she also plays badminton lol!

Wow, she sounds impressive. Her “it’s okay” is probably my “oh my god!!”

lol, thanks for the help redo!

Hello El Caminians! Has anyone taken Chem 21B? Heard its really hard any recommendations?

What class would you take, if you can choose from chem21b and (political science+ geography)?

After transferring, I have a compilation of good and bad teachers.

Look for:
Difiori, oceanography. Very sweet young woman that is a good instructor and lenient grader. Truly cares about your success. Awesome individual.
Doyle, music. Don’t take anyone but Doyle for fine arts. You won’t regret it. Funny, smart, and an awesome man. Honors classes too.
Watersworth, English. He’s a fricken trip. VERY funny, and forces participation. Very lenient grader, but you do learn too. Definitely an experience.
Carter, econ. Awesome teacher. Very knowledgeable and presents the material well. Made econ not boring. Take her! Easy honors A, and learned a ton.
Antoine, polisci. Her class takes some effort, but for most transfers it’s the last honors before transfer, so she’s a good median. Very sweet old lady, very smart. Interesting lectures and tries to prep students for UC.
I had a good math 180 teacher, but I can’t remember her name right now, which is sad because she really helped me through. I’ll edit if I think of it.

Avoid:
Ackerman, English. Very politically driven and biased. Set in her mindset, and any other opinion is considered misguided. Very frustrating class, with many blatant political segways.
Mascolo, psych. He is VERY scatterbrained, and although many found him endearing, I was embarrassed for the school. He lost my final paper among his jack-and-the-beanstalk 5-foot stacks of papers and gave me a D. Had to dig for my paper through his rubble and petition for the grade change.
Womack, anthro. Yes she is ‘easy,’ but she is a real nut. Really had to struggle through her sadly lame attempts at jokes and awkward sexual innuendoes.

Whatever’s:
Widman, polisci. smug man that repeats many of the same phrases. Many think he’s hard, but if you took AP gov and mildly paid attention this class is cake. Lectures are boring, and the 6:45am class was brutal but attendance is not strict.
Firestone, philosophy. He’s a decent guy, but I feel like he teaches the material in terms of his interests, and expects you to like the same ideas. Not easy, not hard.
Walker, math. Nice guy to be sure. He greets the class, goes about his lecture, and dismisses class. Tests were very predictable, and any tricks were accomidated for. Teaches quickly, I somehow was surprised with a C+, my worst grade at elco.
Ebin, French. Very irritating voice, and constantly trying to catch her breath. She was easy, but her high-strung tendancies stressed me out. She also made up weird rules.

I’ve only been at elco for a semester, but I recommend Firestone for any interested in philosophy. He’s super intelligent, and though he may come off a little biased at times, he’s a great teacher. His intro class is an automatic A if you aren’t mentally impaired.

I got a B in Firestone. I didn’t really like his teaching style to be honest.

Well you’re definitely not mentally impaired - you’re at UCLA! But Firestone seemed great to me. Everyone learns differently, though. I guess.

I took phil of relig though. And he pushes a lot of his weird Buddhist sh1t…and hw assignments were to meditate.

lol, that is pretty weird.

bump! registering for classes now  anyone know who Donegan (geography) is?

I know people have said this but Carter for Econ is awesome! Eula (history) is a really good professor as well, extremely smart. Polisci with Antoine was easy but kind of boring, she’s a sweet old lady though. Firestone is okay, his intro class is easy and enjoyable but I agree he’s extremely biased and will not hesitate to bash your beliefs (beware, religious people).

also new students, it seems impossible to crash a class and get in. I went to a different CCC last year, and could get into any class by showing up the first day. Very unlikely at el camino… I went to 4-5 classes and there were 10-15 people looking to crash and very few would get in through lottery, if any.

on another note, why is it so impossible to see a counselor :(

Andrewxd - Haven’t taken Donegan I’ve taken geog 5 with Booher. I recommend him. His packets are his lectures and you just fill in the blanks during presentations. Extra credit opportunities too. He is a bit of a dick but he I never had a problem with him. If you show interest and is actually in it to get a good grade he seems to notice and appreciate it. I heard Ebiner is good too. I went to one of his seminars(for extra credit from Booher) and he was good.
