No line in our small town north of Portland at 10 am this morning.
I did early voting and waited about 10 or 15 minutes. DH is going to vote today; I’m interested to see if he has a line.
@sylvan8798 – your daughter wasn’t alone!

By the way, I love this gesture. Giving credit where it’s due on a historic election.
“I agree about shortening the campaign season.”
I just heard that someone in my state is announcing his candidacy for 2018 office next week!
I got a chuckle today at the state level question on my ballot “Should state legislators set their own salaries, or should a totally independent group decide how much lawmakers are paid?” Gee…I wonder how that one will turn out B-)
I already voted by mail, but I just drove by my polling place and there does not appear to be a line at 12:30…I may take a walk by there later this evening to see how it’s going.
I did hear about lines while listening to my local news.
Got lucky and had 2 people. In line when I got there. Michigan which is not a early voting state. But went past the polling place a few times today and it was much busier.
D in PA waited about 30-40 minutes this morning at 7. The last presidential election there was a 2 hour wait after she got off work so she wanted to make sure to vote before work this time.
It’s her birthday, she’s having girlfriends over for dinner and then going to the bar to watch election results. Thinks she might drink enough she won’t care who won!
One of my election wishes is that I can stay awake long enough to see final results. My body hasn’t reset since DST ended and I’ve been asleep before 9 pm CT the last 3 nights (and one of those was before the “fall back”!). Just took a little nap since I’m off work today, so maybe that will help.
I was 4th in line today. Twice in the past I’ve been first in line. I don’t know whether this is true for all of California or even for all of San Diego County, but when they open the polls here there is a little ritual in which the first voter in line is called forward and asked to look in the empty ballot box and see that it is indeed empty. After that they seal the ballot box and the voter signs a form certifying that it was empty when voting began. Only then do they start passing out ballots.
Have a meeting tonight (regular weekly gathering).
Hope nobody says anything if they hear anything. We are all over the place in our political leanings.
Better to just wait til we get home and have a week to digest the results.
We need to enjoy our time together.
No lines at our polling place two blocks away. Done voting in 5 minutes (it would have been quicker except for the 31 propositions and measures).
My wish is for all of our relatives to return to speaking/posting civilly to each other post-election.
During a previous campaign, one relative stopped speaking to her father for two years because he supported a different candidate. He didn’t start political discussions or ever say anything rude, she just couldn’t stand that he did not agree with her. Another relative frequently makes sweeping negative statements. He impugns the integrity of anyone who works in several industries, which happens to include all of my immediate family, then is surprised that I take offense at his ugly comments because he thinks we should assume that he excludes us from his criticism.
In Ca. I’m the only one in my family that doesn’t vote by mail. The polling place was busy but I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I’m proudly wearing my sticker.
The funny thing was the man in front of me today at the grocery store Proudly showed his sticker to the bagger a young woman of about 20. She commented “you sure waited till the last minute to vote” you know you can vote by mail. Got a chuckle out of that.
A big topic at work today is how tired we will all be tomorrow because we all plan to stay up to see results!
In So. Calif.- I dropped off my absentee ballot at lunch. I always walk it in because I like the atmosphere. I was very surprised to find a lot of people working and no one else there voting! It was 12:30 so I expected a big crowd on the lunch hour. One gentleman said they were pretty busy around noon, and when they first opened, but otherwise not too crowded.
As I mentioned on the World Series thread…an advantage of the west coast…not having to stay up as late as the rest of the country for these big events!
D2 who is a sophomore in college had her morning bio class cancelled - the prof said she expected them to stay up and watch the results and she didn’t want class to be the reason they didn’t.
DH had no line at our polling place today. Unlike when I voted (computer touch screen technology), his ballot was a paper bubble in type.
All I want to say is I voted!
This is horrible. What are people thinking?!?!?! http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-azusa-shooting-injuries-20161108-story.html
