End of An Era - Last "What Not To Wear"

Call it corny, but SAD to see this show go! Tonight is the last episode - a 2 hour special preceeded by an hour of Stacey and Clinton responding to fan mail.

Just so happens that D1 is in town - she will be turning 25 soon so we were watching WNTW when she was 15 - always watched it when she was home - now that she is living elsewhere, we text about it. D2 and I have the tradition of watching together now. But tonight, all three of us “girls” will cuddle in the living room, in our pj’s and under warm fleece blankets like we have done for years and watch the last WNTW together!

Will anyone else be watching?

Absolutely, we are watching the finale! I am amazed how many of the profiled makeovers I remember watching. I think I have seen just about every show; I can’t believe there are ten seasons!

While many may think this is a cheezy reality show, there are many women (and a few men) whose lives were significantly changed by their appearance on this show. The first hour of their finale as they revisit some of their guests proves this to be true.

Thank you Stacy and Clinton–we’ve enjoyed watching you…and learned some fashion tips along the way!

I feel nostalgic, too, even thought I think the show had gotten very repetitious and outlived its usefulness. I know Clinton has The Chew, but I wonder what’s in Stacy’s future.

Darn I haven’t seen one episode of this season. Hope to catch replays

Watching now. It’s fun to see how Stacy and Clinton have changed over the years too!

Aww, sad. In the back of my mind is always “what would Stacy and Clinton think of this?” when I go shopping…

Watched with my D. We started watching it together years ago.

D and H nominated me for the show, but sadly I was never selected. Of course, I don’t think I dress THAT bad . . . at least I don’t wear lace bodysuits! And through watching the show I do think I make better fashion choices.

Loved the show through the years and have learned a lot from it. But I thought last night’s show was bor-ing.

Also, that poor woman who [I think] had to stay up 24 hours for her makeover!! I doubt that it will “take” as well as the others they have done which lasted a week or so.

Anyone else??

I was so skeptical of this show in the beginning. And I’ve been so moved by the big changes that these women went through internally. And I’ve surprised myself by discovering how important the hair and makeup part is, and how kind Ted and Carmindy are. I really have come to admire this show.

End of an era…very sad. D1 and I have watched the show for years and, when she came home from college, would watch old ones On Demand. Now that she’s home, it was fun to watch with her last night. Thank you Clinton, Stacy, Carmindy and Ted! I believe Ted was on only the last two years and we did note that there wasn’t any reference or and no highlights showing hair the previous 8…

I too was a fan of this show for a long while. But I think it has run it’s course. As time wore on I found myself getting impatient with the episodes. Felt they could have completed 2 make-overs in the time it took them to get through 1. I would love to see this show come back with the original cast in a somewhat abbreviated format for each makeover.

I am still a big fan of Stacey, Clinton and Carmindy. I never took to the original hairdresser - think he was british - that appeared on the episodes. Think he was replaced? I always thought he cut everyone’s hair way too short and often I felt their hair looked better going in. It just needed color and styling. He came off as very brusque to me.

Nick was the first hairstylist. He was okay but I have been so impressed with Ted Gibson’s compassion. He is a little pushy when he needs to be but backs off when he needs to; he’s very good.

I loved the show the first few seasons. After that, I felt like I was watching reruns with slightly different clientele. Still…it did make me laugh.

Someone did some research into how many of these folks stuck with their make overs and how many went back to their old ways. My recollection was that most did NOT stick with their new look.

The original (British) version of this show was wonderful.

Have watched the show a lot over the years. Missed last nights episode. Hope TLC will replay it.

Not only Nick was missing. Does anyone else remember the guy who was Stacy’s partner the first year? I can see his face in my mind, but his name escapes me. I do recall he didn’t have the warmth and charm of Clinton. I have some vague memory that things didn’t end well with Nick, and given that pre-Clinton lasted only one season, well, it’s not surprising those two were non-people in the retrospective.

We always call the first guy “rugby guy” because he was kind of scruffy and always wore a rugby striped shirt.

But he was on for eight years!! I think they should have at least acknowledged him.

We have watched this show over the years. Not as religiously as we once did. Thinking back, it’s been nice to have “Stacy & Clintons” advice when discussing fashion with my now 18yo daughter. It has really helped to change her mind on a few occasions. Because of course, being her mother, I know nothing! :)

And who knew? Clinton’s a Boston College grad and Stacy’s a Vassar grad!
